Tint a Car “Octane” is what we had put on the front windows. The rest is just the factory privacy glass that comes standard.

      I personally love it.

It’s it probably the cheapest & most satisfying mod I have put on the car.

It can be adjusted at the push of a button and is simple to operate.

I would recommend any type of throttle controller upgrade as it just makes the car feel so much nicer to drive.

        More than the steinbauer?
also what impact on economy did the combination of the Stein and throttle control have?

I cant really comment on the fuel consumption as I have had both units in the car since the second tank of fuel.

It will come down to how you drive you Prado though.

The throttle controller basically changes the reaction time and amount of force required for acceleration, so if you are still pushing down on the pedal the same amount as pre throttle controller you will use more fuel.

In my opinion the steinbauer is a mild tune for the Prado. They claim up to 20% Increase in power and torque. It is definitely noticeable and makes the car a nicer drive but a quality tuner can give you the required gains in power & torque to suit your driving requirements for you car. The steinbauer is still a module and it has been pre tuned to suit the motor but not the specific car. (Every engine is slightly different and the quality re map will be a good option and cheaper)

          Cheers

While I agree with you the benefits of the module vs warranty are my main deciding factors.

That’s the exact reason for me going the way I did. The unit can be removed with ease prior to each service.

Does the SB allow the gearbox to hold 6th easier without unlocking the Torque converter as often?

I find the car sometimes still hesitates to find 6th gear at around 100-110kph. I’m unsure as to how it was with compared to without the sb. As previously mentioned I have only driven the car with the sb installed. It’s been in since 1000km old.

A couple new goodies have arrived over the last week.

1 x Pair of AMTS rhino awning brackets.
1 x 41.5” Single row STEDI light bar.

Just need to find the time to fit them now!

Picked up the new rhino platform & backbone mounting system.
Got home from work and couldn’t help myself. (3hrs later) all done and dusted.
Very happy with how the platform looks.
Now I just need to work out what accessories to mount to it. Might need to make up new awning brackets, max trax mounts and a slimline light bar to mount up front.
I am just about to get the Backbone fitted to my Prado , what length platform did u put on ?

                          Hey mate,

I settled with the 1928mm x 1236mm pioneer rack. The longer version may suit you, I guess it depends on your setup. Also I feel the slightly wider rack looks a little ugly but if you require more room up top it would make sense.
If you haven’t got a good price and can hold off a while autobarn have a sale at least once a year with 25% off rhino gear. There are also some good prices on eBay including delivery. I paid about $1003 for the platform and backbone setup with a saving of a few hundred bucks.

Fabricated some brackets to mount the Stedi ST3K 41.5” light bar last night.

It was quite a fiddly install with a lot of trial and error.

Ended up mounting off the rhino backbone directly as the length of the light bar was a little too long to mount off the pioneer rack. I guess the positive is I can run the light bar with the pioneer platform removed.

Pretty happy with the end result.
