  • American "Prado wannabe" rear door swap?

I am a 2012 Lexus GX460 owner starting out my build in the U.S. There are a number of rear door swap options that look interesting to get my spare onto the back of the truck. I've looked mainly at the Kaymar bumper mounted option ($3,200+), and the LFD bumper/door mount combination option ($3,200+), but I'm curious about simply swapping the GX460 door with a Prado 150 rear door. Two questions for the group:

    1. Does anyone have comments on how the Prado 150 rear door holds up to the weight of a spare tire over time?

    2. Any ideas as to Prado rear-door parts cost and/or compatibility with the GX460?

Go to www.partsouq.com follow your nose and navigate to a Prado 150 screen (pick any model) and the rear door for a new price plus their delivery costs.
The rear door sagging under the weight of the factory spare isn't a big issue. If you have a bigger spare and drive rough tracks it mite. Check out www.KAON.com.au for a simple spacer for the bottom hinge if and when needed.
However, i'd say your best and likely more economical bet will be the Kaymar wheel carrier. You'll be the only kid on the block with one.
I have one, it works and opens up more options.
