Natural Cave in Springbrook national park provided the scenery for this one. The low light meant shutter speeds were slow enough to blur the water, but I still used a polariser to keep some of the reflections under control. I also set my shutter speed a stop faster than what the meter indicated, to help keep the brightness of the outer area under control. The settings were 8sec shutter, F5.6. The day I took these was a beautiful clear spring day. I was happily snapping away inside the cave, when a storm came over and it started pelting rain. Within a couple of minutes the creek was noticeably rising, so I decided it was probably best to get out. By the time I packed up my camera the water was starting to flow over the cave entrance. I had only gone a short way since leaving the cave when I started getting pelted with cricket-ball sized hail, I considered momentarily going back to the cave for shelter, but already the creek had come up so high that the cave entrance was completely underwater, and the peaceful creek was now a raging torrent, so my decision to get out when I did proved to be the right one. There was probably no more than 10 minutes between when it started raining and when the cave was flooded.

This is Queen Mary Falls. I used a moderately fast shutter speed on this one - 1/60sec. At that speed it maintained the flow patterns in the water. I preferred that over the the typical silky smooth waterfall.

Here's one from my archives, taken with one of my favourite films, Fuji Reala 100. I love the way Reala's colours, especially the greens, pop out but without being overbearing. Way too long ago to remember the settings used, but probably a polariser filter and the aperture fairly well stopped down. This is on the creek on the walk to Browns Falls, in Queen Mary Falls national park.

Went for a day trip out to Blencoe falls this weekend, good spot but along way out for one day. Spot is about 100ks from Mt Garnet down Gunnawarra rd. Easy drive save for the last 2kms where there is a couple of steep grooved downhill bends heading to the lookout.
Just wish id had time to fit some new rubber..
