  • The Droid in Kalbarri

I recently took the family up to Kalbarri and discovered the Murchison Off-road Centre. Being new to 4wding I had a ball. While I was there I took this photo as was one of the best of the week. Please let me know what you think.Click image for larger version

We had only done about 4000km and then got this Droid dirty. Nothing better than a dirty droid.

Nice one R2 - there is only one thing better looking than a white GXL Prado - a white GXL prado covered in dirt/mud!!

Your photo has uploaded quite small so probably doesn't do it justice but well done.
    Cheers
    Micheal.

Great photos R2. Does anyone have a gold Prado with a silver rear quarter panel?
      Cheers

        Thanks Guys
I will try and put up a larger photo. I thought it was just me.
        I will upload tonight.
As for the Gold Prado, We actually have a silver Outlander (Not a real 4wd - very noisy and whiney, just like C3P0) with the plates C3P0.

Michael, you're used to small right? Oh wait, I'm confusing you with your lovely lady.

Had a Phase 3 I called the Millenium Falcon..... not really, but it sounded apt.

Well I guess he was all silver in the beginning. Or aren't we allowed to mention the prequels?

You will have a awesome day. It is about 1.5 hours east of Kalbarri and you will need the day, if not camp over night there and get so much more out of it. They have a restaurant and bar with showers and toilets. Awesome place and lots of adventure for all levels of 4wders.

Hey R2D2 I'm guessing you were up there around April when it rained by the looks of your droid. We stayed at Lucky Bay (good free camping on the beach, good snorkelling /fishing in the lagoon) south of Wagoe for a few days then moved on to M.O.A to watch the Mud Nutz challenge course thing where they pumped water into big mud pits and just had a ball over the weekend. I say they as I got enough mud over my car just driving the tracks around the station! The "Chuck Norris" track is a beauty! Loved the restuarant/bar set up in the old shearing shed complete with original floorboards wide enough to let wool dregs through.

Hi Gaz, we took the kids and outlaws up during the July school holidays. I have heard of Mud nuts and sounds like a awesome thing to go and watch. We stayed at one of the parks as we have a 2 year old and a preggas misses so they wanted a shower and loo and we haven't got us set up yet for a bring everything adventure yet. Give me 12 months and that may change. We loved being up there and some of the places and there is so much more I would love to discover and explore. Looking to try and get up there and shark bay next year this time with all our stuff and a new born. Should be interesting.

Aaaah yes the memories just came flooding back to me of travelling and camping with screaming portable poo factories! Fun times.. Still put in the hard yards now, and later on when theyre used to travelling for three days straight to get from Perth to Broome and don't make a sound you'll appreciate it.
Apart from Steep Point up in Shark Bay there also is a great little fourwheel drive only NP called Francois Peron on the way out to Monkey Mia.
                            Enjoy Gaz
