    1. La Bakehouse Cafe on High St Penrith - award winning pies. Absolutely delicious
    2. Pie in the Sky at Cowan.

    It's worth the travel for a good Aussie pie I reckon

      The township of Stone Hut, just south of Melrose (Southern Flinders) has a top Bakery, lots of different pies and other goodies to tempt a hankering for a bit of yeast.

      Also bring back the Pie Cart outside the railway station in Adelaide and their Pie Floaters. THE BEST meal to keep you going on a late Saturday night (fast fading memory )

            Pepper pies from the Landsborough Bakery are hard to go past.

              Add another vote for the Miami Bakehouse.

              Another awesome stop used to be the Pinjarra Bakery.
              Multi award winning ... but they seem to have gone off the boil since they went all upmarket ... with new premises etc.
              Still a damn good place to stop before heading out to the Harvey mud. :lol:

              But I would have to say ... my all time favourite was the beef, cheese and bacon pie from the bakery in Morgan SA.
              We stopped and bought a carload of pies to feed the family (down by the river) and they were so good we stopped on the way back to get a load of roadies. :lol: :lol: :lol:

                Hutch is on a winner with Yatala Pies.

                I live spitting distance from there and we go down every Sunday that I'm not working.

                On a side note, while their pies are excellent, the fresh cream apple turnovers are to die for. I reckon they must soak the apples in Bundy Rum before cooking. They are something special... :mrgreen:

                      Ahhhh one of my favourite topics......PIES!!

                      Cardwell, between Townsville and Cairns used to have a pie van just about right on the beach. A great spot to have a pie and wander along the beach. Many years ago i jumped in the car with some mates just to get a pie, from Townsville, just an hour and half away! Im not sure if old mate who used to run it is still there, ive heard rumours its now gone upmarket with coffees and the like.

                      Avoca, Vic. There are two options here; one mob, have something like 20 different flavours, camel, croc, emu and the like, but the ones ive had there have never been real flash, and they only ever have a small selection available when ive been through. The better option is the old bank building a couple of doors up, its a "proper" bakery with awesome pies.

                      Just a comment on the Birdsville bakery, i like a few others liked the curried camel, the roo and red wine, was a bit ordinary and the sausage roll was bloody awful! Im not sure if it was a bad day or what but it was dry and i could taste it that whole day through the simpson!

                        Can recommend the pie shop on the new England HWY at Branxton.... sensational steak and kidney and steak and mushroom. If you are near Lake Macquarie try Jack Horners at Argenton (Real well known to the locals & truckies) open 24 hrs 6 days per week. Do a mexican pie that blows your mind both ends and a works pie that would fill any one up. Worth a look if your up this way. Not that far from Mt Sugarloaf.

                          Have to agree with Chippy , that the Pinjarra Pie Shop is not as good as it was before they moved into new shop, But best Pie for me is the Denmark Pie Shop ummmmmm

                            Pies - a subject close to my heart...

                            Great pies at Patchett's Pies in Mascot (and great proper Pork Pies as well and not bad Cornish Pasties either) (beef burgundy, spring lamb and tandoori the pick I think)
                            Also check out Braidwood bakery for some great pies - pepper steak is great (pretty hot but) - and proper custard tarts to die for (sometimes you need to ring ahead to reserve them as they are so popular)
                            Always stop off at the Humble Pie co. near Bangalow on way to Gold Coast.

                                Your number 2 option used to be and is stil amazing but if you are after better pies then I suggest the Berowra Bakery opposite the station as they are much better IMHO!

                                Go Pepper Steak or Potato but there are many other flavours like Lamb & Rosemary too...YUM...I'm hungry now

                                My wife worked at Pie In The Sky whilst she was at Uni and even she reckons the pies aren't as good as they used to be since the owner changed.
