The township of Stone Hut, just south of Melrose (Southern Flinders) has a top Bakery, lots of different pies and other goodies to tempt a hankering for a bit of yeast.

Also bring back the Pie Cart outside the railway station in Adelaide and their Pie Floaters. THE BEST meal to keep you going on a late Saturday night (fast fading memory )

1. La Bakehouse Cafe on High St Penrith - award winning pies. Absolutely delicious
2. Pie in the Sky at Cowan.

It's worth the travel for a good Aussie pie I reckon

Kipplings at Pt Wakefield - Main North road right next to the Shell roadhouse. Must do stop for all trips north of Adelaide. (go the steakie again )

This place gets my vote too Mick. It's a mandatory stop on our way through to the country for the work trips.
Nothing like the Egg and Bacon Pie in the morning to get the day off right.

I am partial to the odd pie (I have the waistline to prove it). Robbo pie shop isn't bad (Robertson near Wollongong) and also a few years ago now, just the old plain pie from the Kurri Bakehouse.
Always been meaning to stop at Freddos pies that Samo mentioned but it is usually "just want to get home"

The Old Dunsborough Bakery still does a good pie too...........

Yer forgot about this bakery use to go there back in the days of attempting to surf after visiting the caves hotel

Then Denmark bakery WA won some awards this year for their pies .They must be good the bakery in Walpole ( which is the next town West of Denmark ) were selling their pies ? I tried a few and yep there good .

Also I can not drive through Dongara without stopping for a pie at the roadhouse / bakery .

And the Beef and Guiness pie at the Earl Spencer in Albany is fantastic .

Oh yer the old "4 and 20" in my freezer at home are a treat if the wife fails to get out of bed and cook me dinner at 1.00am :|

One of the best pies I have ever had was from Bamaga pie shop on the cape, They made ( In 2003) a great minted lamb pie , we brought quite a few different pies from there and just heated them up when at the cape. I feel like one now but it's a bit of a long drive.
On another note there is a pie shop down past bowral and before nowra ( I won't mention the name) They claim to be the Worlds Best Pie Shop and a few people at work said they were a few years ago but they must have changed owners and ingredients as a bloke at work had one there the other week and he said they were very bland and at $6.20 each a rip off. I actually drove past the place last weekend and seen the sign and just had to laugh as people would be very disappointed, and a quick google search and there are quite a few people disappointed with the KV pie shop :lol:

OK, so I haven't had many of them, but I like the Birdsville Bakery.

The Currie Camel Pie was definitely an experience, and its a nice beautiful bakery to boot.

Its gotta be Miame bakehouse for sure. They win all the awards across Oz, and in some cases they dont enter Pie competitions, as they judge them...................

Now not on the way to Perth for me, with new Freeway open, but will have to find the other stores that 4 + 2 is talking about :?: :?: .

Yatala pies halfway between brisbane and the gold coast. Beautiful, we always stop on the way home from the coast.

Big dads pies are alright as well, the one with the whole egg in the middle.

Robertson pie shop in the Southern Highlands South Coast NSW is pretty good. Ive always stopped there for a few, and is real popular with the road bike crowd as they have an awesome ride home via the Macquire Pass.

Traveling via the Mallee highway. Stop off at the Pinnaroo Bakery, Main street Pinnaroo S.A., great pies finished of with an award winning Vanilla slice.
7klm west of the border track.
