Hi PP - a long time lurker but thought I’d introduce myself. Currently with a 2012 gxl with the usual touring trimmings. Proudly done on my own in the garage and have mostly held together! Previously owned a 4Runner (USA) and 80 series. Love traveling with our Drifta DOT trailer. I’m interested in upgrading the alternator at the moment (q on the elec page). Does anyone else get nervous about the key fob push start in the bush? I worry that if the key fob dies you could be buggered.

When the fob's battery fails, there is also a passive transducer in the key, like most cars with OEM immobilisers built over the previous 20 years. Use the fob's key to open the door and then hold the fob close to the 'Start' button before pressing 'Start'. It starts!
