im am staying well away, will be a rat race, i know where i would be, get on 1 of the highest dunes on stocko and watch it through binoculars, just a thought. cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.
had some jets fly over mid this week and 2 blackhawks today.
will be a good weekend with plenty to see and touch.
wonder if they are doing joyflights  oh yer
don't think so unfortunately
was a top day watching the aircraft.
the big disappointing think was the entry/exit and parking.
you park on the domestic airport side via a goat track.
walk over airfield to the displays/stands and air craft.
wow there is some nice machinery there to walk through.
C130 hercules, sea hawks, black hawks, the big C17 loadmaster.
but the line-ups to see anything was about 1hr and the buy anything was 1+hrs. it was a joke.
the air show was to finish around 4pm, but by 3pm we had had enough.
tryed to get to the carpark (other side of runways), "sorry the runway will have pedestrian access from 4.10pm, but
if you go down there you can get a courtesy bus over to carpark and is about 30mins delay.
30mins we thought that was ok. the line up when we got there was about 500mtr long and about an hour to get bus.
decided to go back and wait for the run-way to be cleared to pedestrians.
there was about 20000 people there i believe. then they open the run-way at 4.25pm and 10000+ people start the march
back to the carpark. once at the carpark 5000+ vehicles trying to exit out of this offroad goat track.
it was over an hour to exit carpark and goat track.
they expected 90000+ people to the airshow over the 2 days and this is there idea of traffic management.
open the runway at the end and exit out this track. absolutely pathetic.
anyone thinking of going. don't use there "event carpark". i heard someone else parked near the museum and left at 2pm,
with no problems or delays.
that aside it was a top day, and those pilots know how to fly.
the top 2 flying displays were the F111's fly-bys and dump and burn, and the dancing squirrels (helicopters). absolutely awesome flying.
I also had a great day at the air show, well worth the trip.
The parking was a bit of a let down, we also parked on the otherside of the runway, but was at the front of the charge across at the end of the day so got out pretty painlesly. The biggest let down of the day was that the PA system consisted of half a dozen horn speakers up near the hangers, no speakers up near the fence where everyone was, we couldn't hear a thing about what was going on.
Was great to see the F-111 doing the dump & burn again before they are decommissioned at the end of the year, every time there was a gap in the show without warning an F-111 would fly down the air strip at full noise turn around & do the dump & burn on the way back. 4 times!!
Ill get some photos up shortly
