  • From Alice up to Broome across the Tanami

    Hi ALL

My 04 120 Prado has always been a highway car, originally purchased in Sydney doing its first 4 year/75,000kms up and down the M4 motorway ! We moved up to Alice 2.5 years ago and I've been "pottering" with it. Its now got 120km on it and still drives like a new car, never flogged it, always changed the oil every 5000km however things are a changing :-)

I've just bought a storage system for the rear, had tough dog suspension put in, ARB roof cage, CODAN, extra spare tyre, dig_options sound system, ARB compressor,Engel, Lightforce and tons more stuff :-) Looks nothing like the car that left Sydney.

So we're leaving Alice around the 19th Sept to head across the Tanami to meet friends at Wolfe Creek. From there we're off to Halls Creek and then off to Broome. Its been quite a while since I've stood in the ocean, can I still swim ? The Todd flows rarely but when it does, you dont want to be in it, the locals will know what I mean.

After Broome we're off north to Kunanurra and then make our way back to the Stuart Highway just above Daly Waters, then the blacktop home. Hopefully we'll be gone for a minimum of 2 weeks. We're packing an emergency tent but for this time of the year the swag will be awesome. The kids are staying at home and we're off together.
This trip has been done by so many but its our first time, cant wait to hit the dirt...Had a quick run to Chambers Pillar the other day across the corrugations, the Tough Dog suspension did an amazing job, so frikkin nice !
