Last i knew the next gtg was in Vic... And thats why i decided we were no go!...
Birdsville raves had been on the cards and well now i have read this thread... I would say we will be keen as a dog chasing a cat to jion the PP crew!!!
Short of speaking to the missus... COUNT US IN!!!

We followed a group of 21 "T Van" owners over last year, such a pity as it made a good trip a bit ordinary for those not well set up. I think there were a LOT of very inexperienced 4WDers ahead of us....you could see (from the resultant destruction left behind) that they had one plan when crossing the Dunes......massive amounts of right foot to the floor and stuff what it did to the track!!

It just created this incredible scalloping effect (not sure that's the right description), so rather than me being able to laze over the dunes in High 2nd, there were lots where I had to get into low range and crawl over (attacking them meant a VERY bouncy ride).

Personally I am not sure that Trailers and Dunes go together like Corona and Lime but each to their own.

In relation to earlier comments about bog standard vehicles, I'd agree that you are better off with a lift and better suspension but it was still doable for those I helped across last year...as long as you had a decent set of tyres (and maybe some Maxtrax).

Myself and another cruiser were pretty well set up, so between us and our Maxtrax / Winches we were able to help our mates through and allowed them to enjoy an experience that they would never do otherwise.

Besides it made for some great vision!!

By the way I'd love to join you but my mate with the Cruiser and I are doing the CSR in July-August, coming back through the Tanamai and the Plenty Highway...so maybe 10500 Kms will be enough of a jaunt for me, but have fun, and can't wait to see the photo's.

Well this weekend some of us Victorians will be having a chat to get the Vic gtg well and truly going hopefully, and that will still be in 2014. ( Vic high country )
This trip was put up because there was a group of us already going to the races and after talking at this years GTG maybe some style of pp expedition would be good. I was certainly going to get some t shirts organized if people wanted shirts, which I think would be good to all have especially at birdsville. Could this be turned into a GTG ?

Still on in VIC it will be on 2014 so plan for the two of them .

If the Vic GTG isn't happening until 2014, this sounds like the 2013 GTG by default to me. If there is a firm date and meeting place, I can look into availability of annual leave. Is it Mt Dare on the 1st Sept, or another venue earlier?

If the Vic GTG isn't happening until 2014, this sounds like the 2013 GTG by default to me. If there is a firm date and meeting place, I can look into availability of annual leave. Is it Mt Dare on the 1st Sept, or another venue earlier?

Us Victorians are leaving on the 28th aug looking at Loxton or Renmark for first night Pick up AJ ( if you come ).
Then Leigh creek .
William creek ( so people can take flights , drive sth lake eyre )
Mt dare is looking like the 1st or maybe the sat .
Have a day off in the desert somewhere .
Be at birdsville on the Thursday before the races at the latest .

So you could meet up with us before depending on which way you want to come down .
Plan was to end up in broken hill to Finnish so you would go home from there .

I may not be living in Loxton by that time next year, Trish wants to move closer to Adelaide. Just one of the many things that mean I can't commit to coming at this stage, but might be able to get this trip put in as clause in the sale and purchase contracts for a new house
