I have one of the Blackwidow sand flags .
What are we at the moment , Convoy of 11 heading east .
If we split up the other lead vehicle will have some sort of sand flag .

Yep wood fires are banned TOTALLY in the Witjira NP section and firewood collection is also prohibited. I think wood fires are permitted in the QLD section but not sure about wood collection?

                Hi Stuart,

With high temps n mid to high 20's or so, the plan is shorts n a t-shirt.
Nights getting down to around 10..... Well throw some tracky daks & a jumper on at night.
If I'm cold I will drink more or go to bed.

                Hanging to go!

That was my plan too. Warm clothes and a sleeping bag.

                  • More info on the Bore Track south to Camerons Corner. We tried to do this August/Sept last year. I contacted Gina at the Bollards Lagoon homestead and received this response:
I no longer run the B&B and the bore track is closed, we have not maintained this road for a long time, lots of wash outs and gutters and if an accident occurs it comes back to us, therefore we have decided to keep the track closed.
We found a route running down east of the border to Camerons Corner. Good fast dirt most of the way. HTH Michael

This is wrong. I was told that fires were banned but then when I received a desert parks pass a couple of days ago it said that only the areas marked as National Park were no fire areas. I then phoned up the number provided and they confirmed that you can have a fire as long as you bring in you wood and do not collect it locally.

We are getting each vehicle to carry one bag of wood and then just not having fires on the first night.

                        • That's how I understand the rules, there is a restriction on firewood collection not burning. We brought all firewood in from outside the desert when we crossed. A shame I won't be able to join the PP crew on this trip, I'm green with envy

                          • 10 overnight? I've just crossed the Anne Beadell and gone up the Great Central into Alice and have experienced most nights are around 1-2 degC with clear skies. A tad warmer if its overcast but certainly not ten. Hope your right though cause it's had knobs on it waking up to frosts in a camper trailer!
