    • Just to clarify what is allowed with fires, this is the information that I recently sent to the people coming with me in September:-

      • Whilst in Witjira National Park – there are no camp fires or solid fuel fires of any type. Gas cookers are fine for cooking etc (we will be in this park on the first night and possibly the second night)
      • Whilst in the Simpson Desert Conservation Park and Simpson Desert Regional Reserve – camp fires are allowed ONLY if we bring our wood with us from outside the park. The best option for this may be for each vehicle to bring one pack of wood from home (The packs that you buy at the service stations is what I was thinking of as this would pack better)
      • Whilst in the Simpson Desert National Park, Qld (now called Munga-Thirri) - there are no camp fires or solid fuel fires of any type as per Witjira National Park. I hope drive through this park in a single day and not stay overnight, but there is always a possibility that we may need to.

The one exception to this is at Mt Dare, where fires are allowed within Witjira National Park

I can confirm Bore Track is closed as I tried to do it on my recent trip (~3 weeks ago) and ran into the Bollards Lagoon manger by chance and he said the the same.

            • Any cut off for number of vehicles that can attend? Myself and 2 year old might make it yet. Will be back in Vic on Tuesday after 5 weeks in Central Aus to work out the finer details of what's required to camp with her without the camper in tow. Sounds like a good excuse for a 30 second tent! LOL

                • I've got a cheap arse single EMG swag but she sleeps terrible and it wouldnt be very comfortable when she's doing back flips and swinging the arms around when she sleeps. If I get there we'd do the front end and the races then high tail it back into Melbourne for work on Wednesday the 11th.

Yep I'm in the same boat here. I will have my 7yo boy too. Will play it by ear. Maybe we can come up with something to keep the kids interested. I would like to at least get there for a few races and then see how he goes after that.

Your all good mate, Megan won't be coming.

Called work to check the roster last night and looks like another bloke on my shift has already got holidays booked for that week so it doesn't look good. Have to wait till I'm back at work on Wednesday to see what I can conjure up. Maybe get Megan to cover me for the week!
