Can find any info at 4WDsupercentre. Not sure they sell them anymore. Do you know whether this unit would fit a late 2013 prado?

No the 150 series units were different to the 120 series.

      @green_rex

Do you know if the unit number for this is 567? Because thats for the 2005-2009 120 series but as far as i was aware they didnt make these for 2003 models. If yours is the 567 unit number i will take it.

        Hey LowRange.
I have looked all over it, and there is no label stating unit number.
It was fitted to my 2003 Diesel (1KZ-TE) and worked well.
I cannot find any reference to 567 anywhere, sorry.

Hi mate, after a bit of digging it should work on the 1KD engines also. So i'll take it, just sending you a private message to arrange payment etc. Thanks.

Edit: No luck, sending a PM threw an error... Can not send message. User

Just a heads up.. Not that I know for sure, but they were apparently removed from sale due to a large number of users finding the throttle would randomly go full throttle without any warning leading to some interesting situations.. I got this info from a mechanic mate who works on 200 series predominantly and had a couple do it.. I would suggest some research is needed to ensure the item is safe to fit.

I have one of the above units that I had previously installed in my 150 V6 and now in my 150 2.8.

No issues at all to date.

I hope that the full throttle situation mentioned above never occurs to me.. That would be one hell of a ride!!

Yes, As the 200 was a push button start/stop, the owner was quick enough to put it into Neutral to stop him ramming another car from behind, however it caused an over rev situation as it takes around 8 seconds to do an emergency stop on the push button start cars whilst you are moving.. This appears to have caused engine damage due to the high revs. That was in one of the cases,

I suspect its happened a bit if they have removed them from sale, which does admit some liability if its why they have.

I do believe what you are saying is honest & your comment did have me worried. Although I cannot find a single report of any failures with these units.

Do you have any further info from your mechanic?

If it is a serious issue I don’t want to risk the safety of my family!

There is a bit of chatter about it on some other Toyota pages/sites. Its not just one place I've heard it from. It also makes one think why they have removed them from sale suddenly, if its such a hot selling item.

I’m unsure as to why they no longer stock them.

I would have thought an official recall would have been placed if there was as many issues with them as you are hearing.

                        Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the heads up, a full throttle condition would certainly be no fun. I went to buy one of these and they just went off sale, when they didnt come back in stock i emailed 4wdsupacenter to ask if they would get them back in and was there any issue with them. They assured me there were no issues but they had no eta on when they would get stock. This would of been around Jan/Feb of this year.

I read somewhere else about copyright issues, maybe with Wind Booster but that's not confirmed. Thanks for the heads up though.

FWIW, I called 4WDsupacentre last week and asked if they had any stock of the throttle controllers. The bloke said they didn't sell them anymore and that I could source a controller from i-drive.
