  • Tigerz11 Bullbar for 120 series... whats your opinion?

    Gday all,

I have been thinking about the tigerz11 bulbar as an upgrade from my soverign bar.

On their webite they dont look like a bad product, but they dont have any stock until june, Im guessing that its probably their first prouction run.

To be honest the price of $590 + delivery is pretty tempting, and I also know you get what you pay for.

Im asking for opinions on this product.

    Cheers Drew.

    Drew,
Have you considered adding a winch cradle to the Sovereign bar? I've got one sitting in the garage and it is a pretty heavy duty construction. For $200, it is pretty good value.

The only issue with the Sovereign bar is the approach angle at the wheel compared to the ARB and similar.

      Hey Andrew,
Its funny you suggest that mate, I travelled that road 12 months ago and bought a new cradle and a Runva 11XP winch. All in all Im very happy with the set up as it is.
The problem is the mods still continue...
The issue of radiator protection plates, recovery points and the poor approach angle have had me thinking of the best options available to me...
without going into those details.. which we are all well aware of, i have come to cross roads of which way to go.
Basically this steel bar comes with radiator plates and side wings and if I fabricate an 'AJ120' set of recovery points I should be laughing.
Along with that if I were to sell the sov bar and cradle I could cover the cost of the Tigerz bull bar...
So Im at that point... Im cant fork out for an ARB bar - but damn I want one... This tigerz bar may well be my next best option...

I wish my cape trip wasnt coming around so fast! ... ahh no, yes I do! LOL

There seems to be a number of these ARB rip offs on the market at the moment, a number can be found on Ebay I believe. They are almost but not quite identical to the ARB bar, but the one I saw in the flesh wasn't nearly the quality of the original product, really crappy welding and poor powder coating.

I would suspect if like the others it won't have an airbag compliance sticker if you care about those things. For my money it is so blatantly just a rip off of another companies product that I find it hard to stomach, but a dollar is a dollar so its up to you in that regards.

        Cheers Andrew

I saw a GU with an Ironman winch bar hit the back of a tray ute the other day. There wasn't much left of the Ironman bar, it folded like a factory bumper.

I was looking at the Ironman Protector bar at one stage as SWMBO wanted chrome or Alloy up front. I noticed that the hoops were not welded but bolted to the main bar which would offer little or no protection from a heavy impact compared to the ARB / TJM variety

              Gday AJ,
Look I totally agree with you about scabs ripping off good designs and flogging them off for a cheaper price... Im not sure why ARB dont sue the arse off them. Its pretty obvious that these bars are 95% copies of the ARB product... all apart from the quality.

And your also right about the Air Bag & Australian Standard issues... the words 'built to' & 'Compatible' dosent mean a product 'Complies with' the applicable standard.

              Im thinking twice now...

              Thanks for you honest opinion...

                Hey Craig...
Thats a good point as well... without physically eyeballing a product you would have no idea what its going to be like... If Tigerz 11 doesnt have a sample to at least view at their warehouse than I guess its like playing russian roulette...

These are the kind of opinons I need to hear..

Im thinking of taking a U turn at my cross road now...

Hi Drew I know that ARB is sponsoring us for the Prado Point gtg but for some the extra pennies make it hard to buy the better quality bars.I have the Tigers11 bar and there 12000 lb winch and I'm extremely happy with it.And to AJ's response well it pulled him out of trouble down at BechPort,No offense to Andrew, but being a Boilermaker welder by Trade there was nothing wrong with the welding and the paint work is possibly not quite as good as the ARB bars but that is what you get for the price. There service was second to none and gave my a great deal and quick delivery and back up.Also it fitted exactly to the mounting points of the ARB sovereign bar.

                    Gday Trev,
                    Thanks for your feed back
Yep you hit the nail on the head mate.. I simply cant fork out the cold hard coin for a 'premium' bull bar.
You mentioned you have a Tigerz bull bar... what model car are you driving and whats the chance of posting some pics?
                    cheers

                      Hi Mackayvx,

I have just finished fitting one of these bull bars to my car. I must say these are a direct copy to the ARB deluxe bar only made in China. I am a metal worker in the aircraft industry so was confident that I could reinforce the Tigerz11 bar if needed. Upon inspection I found it to be very well made, the welding was of a good standard with good penetration, not as good as ARB but still good. No reinforcing was needed. The fit to the car was very straight forward and anyone with basic hands skills should be able to do this no problems. Once mounted I was able to get the bar sitting very nicely on the car with nice even gaps.

Like you I found it hard to justify the extra expense of the genuine ARB product when this product is of acceptable quality at a much better price.

Its a bit rude using ARB's instructions isn't it? Surely you should bug Tigerz11 for their instructions.
It makes you wonder how a company with good support can survive these days.

my mate just got a tigerz11 1200 pound grande winch it works fine pulled my 120 out of the mud 5 times on friday. I have one of their hi-lift jacks for 60 compared to 140 i cant tell the difference. Tigerz11 pretty much cut the middle man out only thing is you can't really inspect before so going on feedback is the only way. Keen to see this bull bar as my arb bar is a non-winch bar. The arb bar is ok wouldn't say its the bomb diggity i could weld better then one or two welds on it.

I agree that the ARB bar is not always well made. Mine was off centre when fitted. I was going off at the panel beater for not straightening the car properly, turned out that ARB agreed the bar was welded off centre. (about 4 mm).

My only point above was that ARB spend the extra effort to print instructions etc, while Tigerz11 don't. That makes them cheaper. Its a bit like going into a store to try on some clothes and then buying from someone else online. Personally that's not my style.
