Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

If you've done a lot of hard km's on your auto, don't just flush it, replace the pickup screen.
There is at least one driver on fjcc (FJ runs the same auto) who burnt his oil and clogged the pickup screen with broken down colloidal muck, and starved the torque converter. $3000 replacement.
The pickup screens are cheap from Repco, you can even get oem through Dubai Amayama for around $50. Toyota parts in Australia will charge you around $200 for the pickup screen and the filter.
Penrite advise not to get WS or LV over 100C. If you're hitting those temperatures, you'll need to consider a larger cooler.

I've ordered a Ryco transmission filter kit (Part No. RTK 138) from SCA and planning to have a crack at the transmission in the coming weeks.
What torque are each of the nuts meant to be tightened to?
Should I use a sealant when replacing the transmission gasket? If so, what's the recommended sealant?
Cheers in advance!11/2007 Prado GXL D4D Auto BLACK Stock Option 1.

I only just saw this so a slow reply, but....
Be extra careful with the pan bolts, they can easily be seized. Their torque is only 4.4Nm, note the decimal point!
You can't use sealant down there, the ATF will eat away at it, use the genuine Toyota gasket!

Thanks all. I ended up paying a professional to flush the ATF, replace filter and gasket - first time the AT has been serviced on this vehicle (Nov '07 D4D, 180k). As a bonus the ATF service appears to have mostly resolved a torque converter shudder at low rpm (light throttle) in 4th and 5th gear.11/2007 Prado GXL D4D Auto BLACK Stock Option 1.

Can I ask roughly what you paid for this. Toyota (in Perth) have quoted $380ish I think was the price when I last rang them for a flush only (that included oil).[2007 GXL 120 3.0L D4D Auto] Mods: Bilstein Shocks & King 2" Lift Springs - 265/70/17 Cooper AT/3s Tyres - ARB Deluxe bullbar - LED Spotlights & Worklights - Snorkel - BushSkinz bash plates - 2.2m Alloy Overlander Full Rack - 2.5m Wanderer Awning - GME TX3120S UHF & GME AE4703 6.6dBi - Milford Cargo Barrier - JVC indash DVD - Maxtrax - Pulling a heavily modified Jayco Dove Pop Top Camper
