Rusty62, hi mate, I see earlier in the thread that the pipe snapped of the EGR cooler. Does the end of the pipe just sit in the cooler case to weld. My pipe is just leaking slightly and I can't even see a crack in photos I took with mob phone.I had lost the front support bolt, but after fitting new bolt and tightening it, there is very little soot on the pipe. Did you just weld the outside flange?? I may remove the cooler and check when I fit my blanking plate. Thanks and cheers Bill.

Is a negative result a rare thing?
There are thousands of 7mm plates in! Just look at eBay sales.
Lots of d.i.y are contacting me with results & usually all great.
There is 1 that after a year, decided to start throwing a p0400.
It's a regular thing now, on that 1 vehicle.
As time permits I'm working on a possible solution, for the few? Or only 1? , keeping 7mm hole so turbo pressure can vent back.
There will be an addition, stopping exhaust gas flow, but I need to test it well first.Last edited by Anth120playdo; 04-06-2016, 07:54 PM.

Which way should I go?
Hello everyone,
I have a 2006 Prado (1KD-FTV) and live in Germany.
Mine has 200.000km. I uses about 12,5l/100km right now, with new updated Step2 injectors.
I remember 100.000km ago it was about 8,5l/100km. Sucks I guess.
I think the EGR is the fault. I was blockig there in VW TDI engines of first generation (Bosch VP-Versions) with really great sucess.
Clean manifolds and valves after 200.000km.
I was reading about the blocking-method, the rerouting, and the one with the electronic control part.
How was your sucess in the end with the different methods?
I think the rerouting should be the "cleanest" one? In this case I can get rid of the EGR cooler, does this only cool the excaust gases or also heat in winter?
Thanks
Reno

Not sure of the circumstances but throws the error about every second day. Think it might be when been sitting idling a bit at busy intersections. Easy to clear with my scan gauge.
Should I be worried or jusy keep clearing?Terry

Missed this one.
I had the pipe tig welded at the crack. The pipe is very thin and it will possible break again but as i have full block will not notice. If it does leak it will only pass clean air from the turbo when the egr valve opens.
