G’day all,
6 weeks ago I destroyed my second D4D motor. The first motor went, under warranty, at 60K, I was told faulty injectors caused a piston to burn out. The second went at 120K due to a cracked piston.
I have Toyota extended warranty and my local dealer lodged a claim and advised me that a short motor was approved and was on order from Japan.
Today I have been told that the new short motor is actually a new block with new pistons and the dealer will be rebuilding the motor using mostly original parts.
What are your opinions?
Is a rebuilt motor just as good (or better?) than a factory built short motor?
Would you accept a rebuilt motor when you were told that you would be getting a new short motor?
Tomorrow I’ll be ringing the Toyota extended warranty people for their views.
Any thoughts on other actions I could take?
Cheers,
Lee.
