You know I have been thinking about that old saying, my dear old mum used to say it and me dear old dad used to say it and we all know it... it goes like this... 'The best things in life are free'.
About 3 years ago, after some carefull consideration, we blew the cash and forked out for our first 4WD - our 120 Prado... bloody loving it too. Not long after that, being a fairly hands on kind of bloke, I put the spanners into motion and started what i thought was a few 'Smart' mods to the car... one being the dual battery for the fridge.
Into it I go, off to OL and bought up on the Piranah tray and the Redarc Isolator and all the other bits and off I went home.
Being a typical me I cracked a beer and got into the install, Disconnected the cranker battery, installed the tray, ran the wiring and fitted the isolator... I reconnected the Cranker and started the Beast up... I had 13.5V running to my new Dual battery and I was stoked...
Too easy I thought!
Off to the missus, chuffed as could be, bragging about how good I was and she was staright off to the shops in it....
10 mins later i get this phone call... 'Drew, the drivers window works but the all the others dont - What have ya done?'
Oh crap...
Mate I scratched my head for 2 days on that one... The windows worked ok from each door but not from the master controller, I felt like a stooge...
After alot of worring about what I had shorted out.. I decided to google it before calling the Auto eleccy.
Thats when I first met Prado point and I was sorted in 5 minutes, all smiling again.
So thats what I have been thinking, about Prado point, about how awsome this on line community is and the people that I have had the honour of bouncing ideas off.
For the last 3 years i have been raping PP for so much information, I have only just realised that i think I have become a bit of a junky.
From raising the suspension, to cleaning out my intercooler and throttlebody, to installing a snorkel to fixing my broken shift lever, to buying an awsome set of bash plates of AMTS..I have done it all here on PP...
So yes PP has been a huge Freebie for me and honestly saved me Thousands... and it got me thinking..
Bugger this Im gonna become a member... Im not normally the kind of bloke that pilfers off others and I like to stand on my own 2 feet, so I did it for the 'warm and fuzzy feeling' and damn it feels good...
I payed up and am waiting to find out ' where to from here'
Im looking forward to introducing myself soon and starting a thread in the my rig build up..
Its time to give something back.. Im surprised how much PP has grown in to such a important part of my life and im loving it...
PP - one of the 'best things in life that is free'.. until you get addicted that is!
Its the best $55 I have ever spent...
