HF antenna mount

Found this on Fleabay, interesting looking thing, I am planning on doing something similar except I want to keep the antenna up close to the back door instead of it hanging out off the door. What do you reakon Drew ?

Nicely spotted - Speedcomm,

I'm in the process of designing my own new antenna mount.

The good thing about this one is that it accommodates an antenna with an integrated tuner in the base (like a Codan), because it has the mount lower. My application doesn't require this because my antenna tuner is mounted inside the spare wheel.

One negative about the eBay one is that it doesn't seem to have provision for a reverse light/camp light.

This is the same antenna I have, same colour car even ! but I dont like the way it sits off the car, I would like to see it hard up against the back door, That is a great idea re the light, it could be mounted out the other side of the wheel I guess, as the wheel must get spaced off the door a little with the brackets there is nothing to stop you putting something off either side of the tyre. I reakon old mate probably paid a bit for this bracket originally, shame he never got to use it in anger !

Someone else had an HF mount from the rear tyre bracket. Got it from Terlin in Canning Vale in Perth. I have not seen one up close but it looked like it mounted closer to the back door than that one.
