I am getting the "Ausguard" barrier fitted this friday at their HQ in Blacktown, Sydney. I was quoted $425 fitted. They have to drill two holes in the floor but the rest is attached to the grab handles etc.

I have a VX with the rear A/c and air bags and I could only find Milford and Ausguard have the approved barriers for this model.

Just a note, that I was quoted $604 fitted, for exactly the same barrier by one of the leading 4x4 accessories outlets in Sydney. Go figure!!
Is the supplier in Blacktown a company called Caddy Storage?

          milford positioning

Can the Milford barrier also be relocated just behind the front row when the second row seats are lowered? The one for the Cherokee has this feature.

Just had the Ausguard barrier fitted today. Looks great, good price, great service (took 1 hour).

The only problem is.......... that the cargo barrier is the WRONG ONE for my model Prado. Had a good look at the workmanship etc before I left the factory but didnt even think about the compliance till I got home.

To cut a long story short. The installed barrier is for "non curtain airbag" models. I was very specific in the three conversation with the suppliers, before installation, and mentioned the side airbags every time and was assured it was compliant with curtain airbag models.

After ringing them back, when I got home, they told me that this is the only one they have. They have not designed a curtain airbag model.

They have agreed to design a curtain airbag model to suit my vehicle and will change it over ASAP.

IMPORTANT: They did stress that "no compliance was available for curtain airbag model Prados at this stage". That means that if they redesign to suit the airbag models it still will not be compliant.

I assume that this is the same situation with other brands as well.

            Hope this helps

This morning I had my replacement Ausguard cargo barrier fitted. The new one is designed for the VX/GRANDE or 'optioned up' side curtain airbag models.

Ausguard told me my new barrier was the prototype for the Prado "curtain airbag models" and they are now available for general purchase , although not yet listed on their website. www.ausguard.com.au

I paid $425 fitted for the GX/GXL version which was originally installed. They swapped it over for the correct one at no extra cost but I am unsure if the airbag version will be the same price.

              Hope this helps

                Ausgard cargo barrier

This is the photo Caddy Storage have emailed me to be installed on Friday.

They say it is suitable for dual air model Prados and can be fitted in two positions.
Hoppy50 does this look like the barrier they installed in your VX

Ive had a few requests for info on this barrier. Here are a few pics.

Ausguard have told me in the past that they need compliance details from Toyota to tick all the boxes etc. I am unsure whether this happened when they designed my barrier , but I can only assume that the Milford barrier is in the same situation.

                      Chris,

I followed your link and this barrier is the one for the GX/GXL model. (no side curtain airbag option)

Im sure its only there for anyone (ie; small child) who gets locked in the rear of the vehicle and cannot get out. I know the Prado has an internal door release but they put them there as a legal requirement. Im sure I could remove it but, just havent got around to it yet.

And its not taking up much room!!

I'm waiting on a fitting kit to fit my barrier myself. I've being told it will come with destructions!

The life hammer is there incase someone gets stuck inside & the child safety lock is on, which would disable the internal door release.

Joey, I bought one off fleabay a few months ago and fitted it myself.
Had to buy a fitting kit which came with instructions from my local ARB dealer but the instructions were easy to follow and took perhaps 3 hours to fit.I didn't take any pics at the time as I wasn't a Pradopoint addict at that time, but if you have the instructions, you can't go wrong.
I'll have a look in the morning and see if I still have them and if so scan them and send em to you.
