  • Cargo barrier suppliers and prices

Hope this is a suitable spot for this....

I have been researching this site in relation to cargo barriers. It has been very helpful! Just to assist those who may be looking in the future here are some prices of cargo barriers (fitted) around the Penrith/Blacktown areas in Sydney.

    Milford Barrier
    ARB $601
    TJM $523
Formula Off Road (St Marys) $524

    Caddy Storage Barrier
    Blacktown $420

I've been in touch with Caddy and they require two days notice and about 1-2hrs for fitment, they'll be seeing me next week.

Hope these prices help others to decide on what is for them!

    Thanks

Are there any airbag issues? I am looking at putting a luggage barrier in a VX which has side airbags.

      Thanks JTB and welcome.

I reckon this deserves to be it's own thread. I'll see if I can work a bit of moderator-magic on it.

I can recommend the Caddy barrier, mine is very well made and very strong and reasonably easy to remove.

Good to see another Hawkesbury person on here. I'm up Bells Line in the Mountains, and I work at RAAF Richmond.

Did you see my sticker, is that how you found us?

      Nice to meet you,

        Drew,

Thanks for moving the thread! If it helps someone else in their search it would be good... how many of us are looking around at the same things with no idea of what else exists!

I found Caddy Storage after I read a post of yours, then to find that they were at least $100 cheaper at best and nearly nearly $200 at worst, well I was sold!

I haven't seen your truck around at all. Though since I started looking at Prado's both the wife and I are amazed at how many are out there.

        Thanks

This is one the the things I don't like about the Prado - they are everywhere. But most of them are shopping trolleys driven by people who think the funny looking second gear stick is somewhere to hand their handbags.

You don't see too many of them modded up though. I always try to give other modded 120 drivers a nod (I guess it's the motorcyclist in me!).

          Catch you 'round,

          Drew.

sob, sob, sob . . . . . . I sold my bike this week (CBR600). Couldn't justify the $1200 a year in rego and insurance for a bike I was only riding once every three months.

At least now I am cashed up for my suspension mods

Caddy do a different barrier for the side airbag as per the Grande etc, same price as the std barrier - $320 part only or $450 fitted (they're very easy to fit though). I've been speaking with them over the last few weeks myself and am getting samples of the different barriers (eg. mesh, mesh with poly hatch etc) up to inspect. Am also trying to arrange a discount for Pradopoint members, not sure how I'll go with that one though.

Thanks for the info on the caddy. Keep us all posted on your progress. Whatever happens I will be getting a cargo barrier if there is one available, but dont need it till January 2008. Assuming my Prado has arrived by then

I noticed that you have a reverse camera. I have been researching this over the last few days. Any tips on which way I should go on this. What do you think about the monitor in the rearview mirror idea?

I guess I should start a separate thread on this.

                Thanks in advance

                Rob

The dual position Ausguard cargo barrier I bought is made by Caddy Storage Systems. I'm happy with it although it is fiddly to move from one position to the other. Well made though and no rattles.

I have one of these but experienced some problems with it.

                      Mike,

Thanks for the pics. That's better than Caddy could manage! I asked for some pics of a barrier fitted in a Prado and they sent me a link for a pic of a 100 series on their web site! I'm happy with the grey colour too!

Customer service (via email) is not anything to rave about... but to save $100 I'll wear that.

Just noticed that you have some type of seat covers on the 2nd row... could I be so bold as to ask what brand and how much they are worth?

                      Thanks

                        Hi JTB

The second row seat cover is from Toyota so that it matches my driver and passenger seats. I couldn't find any alternatives at the time I bought them and I needed them in a hurry as the car was new and I was heading off on holidays with two messy boys. From memory the fronts and second row sets were about $150 each. I'm pretty happy with them so far.

I too have had problems with Caddy in Sydney but the local guy in Brisbane (Damien) is fantastic. I went down to view the barrier he got up for me and bought it straight away. Originally I was going to get the standard full mesh barrier ($320) but after viewing the one with the poly hatch fitted I grabbed it. The poly hatch is about 1/2 to 1/3 the width of the barrier and situated in the centre, top half - it provides good vision through the barrier and a large opening when you want to carry lengths of timber etc. I find the rear vision in the Prado to be restrictive enough and wasn't too keen to add to this. Quite a bit more work in the design and comes in at $540 though I got it for $495. I'll post pics after I fit it.

I followed up on the PradoPoint discount thing and it all really depends on the level of interest. If you are genuinely interested let me know and if I get a reasonable amount of interest I'll go back to Caddy with a proposal (say a 10% discount for all PradoPoint members) - that'd make it $288 for a standard barrier (plus fitting if you wanted them to do that). I don't want to mess them around though so be 90% sure of your intentions before putting your hand up please.

I was trying to negotiate with a dealer today to get him to budge on the sale price, by getting him to include the purchase and fitting of a cargo barrier. He said the Milfords were $650 and some others were about $300 + labour. He wouldn't budge, so now I'm stuck and the ball is in my court if I want to get this 2003 GXL with 34500km on it?

Either way, I'd like to get a cargo barrier fitted and I don't mind doing the trek up to Brissie if the price is competitive.

                            cheers!

You should consider the Genuine Toyota barrier. I found it to be cheaper than the Milford and on close inspection of the Toyota barrier, I found it actually is the Milford barrier relabled!

I paid approx $300 for the barrier and around $100 to fit it.
