Not genuine ARB

I have now confirmed that the bar is not a genuine ARB bar, Very good copy though. I have had a look at a ARB bar (at a car yard). I have also been advised that ARB may have attempted to go off shore for some manufacture, this was possibly not persued due to limitations in quality control.
I have had a good look at the bar and compared the finnish to the ARB and found the following (cosmetic).

ARB Import
bash plates are smooth powder coated slightly rough powder
Bar bumper stops square slightly rounded on ends (cosmetic)
overall high quality powder coating some small missed spots

the main issues, whilst theses may sound bad, you do need to look for them, I feel the main one is the powder coating, I will be treating theses with Kill rust to protect. overall I feel the welds are of good quality with good penatration, and have been done on both external and internal sections of main support.

I feel based on the price, I am still very happy with the bar and the overall quality, I have posted some pics regarding what I have posted.

Material Thickness

I have measured the thickness of material as requested and have to revise what I had previously stated

Main Bar is 4mm powder coated steel
Centre support is 4mm powder coated steel
brace and recovery hook (main plate) 5mm steel
Recovery hook (double thickness) 10mm
Bash plate 3mm steel

Hi Bluejed,have seen this ARB look alike on EBAY.Being in WA i have being a bit worried in bidding on the bar.More info would be greatly appreciated,IE warranty,compatablity with airbags,winch mounting etc, Regards

Hey, I have had the same thoughts, the bar did not come with any warranty paperwork from the manufacturer, Pinicale may replace the bar if there is something defective with the bar at purchasse (confirm with the seller prior).

I have had a good look at the bar (Copy) and a original ARB bar, both are same arrangement, fixing type and process, and material thickness appears to be the same. I am of the opinion that ARB state on their fitting instructions "When installed in accordance with these instructions, the front protection bar does not affect opperation of the SRS airbag."
Based on this and the fact the fixings and all are the same I doubt there would be any adverse affects.

I have a winch 12,000 LB TMax, I have nit confirmed the fixing pattern yet, I will check and post.

I am just posting my opinoins, I am not an automotive engineer and you all need to make your own assesment in relation to this product, I am just telling it as I see it to assist everyone else . I have jumped and purchased one and others can lear from my good or missfurtune as it happens.

Have you fitted your Bar as yet?

Does the Antenna mount cause a problem with lifting the Bonnet?

I am considering one of these bars and would like to hear how yours is going.

i'm very keen to read ya reports and see how it fits up. i would like to know (when fitted) how much movement there is between the car and the bar itself, both on the road and when you give it a good wiggle yourself.
