I'm having a look at the electronic rust prevention stuff and was wondering if any one has fitted a couplertec or similar. It seems like quite a simple system but does it really work.??
Russ
I had one on my previous vehicle and to be honest, i didn't really find it to be of benefit. It was one of the cathode type systems and the vehicle was getting on in life by the time i fitted it - i must admit. I do a fair bit of beach driving and the system didn't stop the rust or even slow it down it seems. On the prado, i decided to return to the old rust proofing method and a thorough clean afterwards.
All the ERPS systems have references for guys that swear by them, but in my situation i was not entirely impressed.
Hi Russ
We have fitted Couplertec Electronic rust proofing.
My brother in law has one fitted on his Paj. for ten years. He has been around Australia including the Cape. He goes to Frazer Island each year and shows no sign of rust.
Be careful of the system you look at, some don't work as well as others.
Thanks Bill,
I'm going to wait to the next 4wd show to comes to town as I sure I saw a guy selling them with a show discount. $500 or so springs to mind. I am still researching them; I think they should work on principal but 4 pads for a whole car seems a bit lame. I saw another one that has a sensing circuit that cuts out if your battery gets to low.

We bought the system at the Brisbane Caravan & Camping show. We researched the options and priced the Couplertec through a other sources and selected the two coupler system. $395 plus $50 to get it fitted by our "sparkey"
It only has to build a negative surface on the car to react to the rust.
One pad is placed at the front of the car and one at the back.
