taking it back would be an option if the local toyota could get me covers. they have said toyota (all of toyota aus wide, not just them) will not be getting them in to sell for 120 anymore. i wonder if i got a dope??? stay tuned as they say....--> Macarthur District 4WD Club Member <--

went and got a refund from bursons. they scalled their supplier to be told they only make them to suit standard manufactured vehicles blah blah blah
anyway their loss. so i rang another toyota dealer and he doesnt have any either BUT he was able to say another dealer in QLD did and he would arrange for them to be delivered to another one of their local franchise outlets (Ford) for me to pick up Monday.
Heaps better service than my nearest Toyota outlet. I even went back in to that local one again earlier today for them to say same thing, none to be found anywhere.
So cant wait for Monday to came....
PS if anyone wants some covers for their 120 Prado they want to get in now while they are available in limited numbers
maybe should buy them all up and keep for ebay and make a profit, sorry thats just evil hey--> Macarthur District 4WD Club Member <--

Probably explains why mine are Aunger brand and clips under the headlight - doesn't matter whether bullbar or stock bumper.Dave

Mick, I had a quick look at the my headlight protetctors. Mine are Toyota ones but there are only two clips along the upper edge of the light that hold them in place. At the bottom a strip of plastic comes in under the lower edge of the headlight. There is no clip mount at the bottom that you describe. I would take a photo and post but the wife has just taken off in it to go and look at some plants at a nursery.Nick

Hey guys,
What antenna mounts works with the ARB bar???
Bought a GME bullbar bracket but it not going to work.
Theres not enough clearance between the bar (top tube) and the bonnet opening to fit any Ive seen so far with only 40 mm clearance at best.
Dont want it at the ends where the holes are in the bar, want it closer to centre.
Any help would be appreciated.

Originally posted by PradOz View Postregarding the "recovery loops" on the "chassis mount brackets" for the deluxe bar, i chased up the local arb stockist for a price to supply, supply/fit new brackets with the loops as mine doesnt have them.
they just called me with the price. about $300 supply/fit because the whole bar has to come off, allow to remove the uhf aerial and new captive nuts and bits and pieces blah blah blah
so then i ask "why cant you use the nuts and bits and pieces i already got?" answer lost me, as all i want to do is swap the same shape bracket over except the new one will have a loop hanging off the end.
so then i ask for a break up of cost. "$170 labour, $11 captive nuts, and each bracket with the loop is a massive $35 each and i am not sure where the rest is other than bits and pieces??"
my question is why cant i remove 1 bracket at a time? I would have to undo 5 bolts on the outside of the "chassis mount brace" (the bit that goes up at an angle and towards the front) which mounts to the "chassis mount brackets" but leave the single bolt on the inside to keep it connected. I would think i would need a jack/support under the bar to keep it supported in position. then remove 2 bolts from side of "chassis mount brackets" and swap over.
does this make any sense or am i completelty wrong??
instructions for fitting are here:
http://www.arb.com.au/media/products...03/fitting.pdf
i am going to try ring another arb store, maybe head office if i find their number, and see what the actual individual price is delivered to me. if the local supplier gets them and sells them to me for 35 each surely its the same or less, which at $70 is cheaper then the outback ideas $120+ price for aftermarket which doesnt fit anyway
any suggestions?

You can remove the "loop bracket" easily without removing the bullbar, however the nut toward the rear has a captive nut attached to a "stick" inside the chassis. Once you undo this; the nut and stick will fall into the chassis, with a piece of wire and some patience you can retrieve the nut and screw the bolt back in, however you will not be able to refit the bracket unless you slot the rear hole or remove the bullbar. I have just made new brackets for mine, have a look here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...trailer/page15 you will see how I have slotted the rear hole.
Cheers Andrew
my nudge bar had a nut with a piece of wire (welding rod??) welded to it. You fed the nut with wire thru that last hole to allow the nudge bar to be fitted. if i could weld i would do something similar, and this is then really a better version of the nut with the stick attached as you have a piece of wire that when you bend it into a L to a U shape it extends out of a hole in the chassis so you can hold the nut in position while you do it up. is that something you could do to fit that last bolt on? i dont know if you need it to be slotted if you do it this way. you would "hold" the nut by the wire, then with the bolt fitted thru the hole in the chassis support bracket you align the 2 and start doing it up. you could probably have the bracket hanging by that last bolt as you start to line it all up, or maybe tighten it in its position (not sure till i do it) the wire is then just bent against the chassis and left there. thats how it is with the ECB nudge bar (you could probably see it in the pics i have in the for sale section, or i could put a specific photo up if its needed)
if you feel the inclination to weld 1 piece of wire about 300mm long to a nut that fits a ( M12 x 1.75 x 40mm bolt ) x2 off and post the 2 of them to me (fully paid for of course) i would be forever grateful - crawl, crawl, beg, beg - By doing it this way with the wire on the nut, its the only way i think i can fit the new brackets without removing the full bar just to fit that last captive nut in, simply because i have the first model arb bracket that never had it
when i get to change the brackets over i will try remember to take a photo of each bracket side by side so you see how arb changed it from version 1 (no loop, no rear bolt) to what you have now before you changed over to your modified oneLast edited by PradOz; 05-07-2011, 04:38 PM.--> Macarthur District 4WD Club Member <--

Hey Guys,
Sorry to bring up an old thread but I was just chasing some info. I have just purchased a used ARB Winch Bar and I will be collecting it in a week or so. I had a look at it today and it all seems to be there, however does anybody have pictures of exactly all the major parts that you need to fit this bar?

Stretching the memory a bit now From memory after removing the bracket I used a thin piece of wire with a hook bent on it and went in through the rectangular hole just back a bit from the nut in question, I recall it being a bit fiddly but didn't take that long to get it in a position I could screw the bolt back in.
You can see where I slotted my new brackets in the pictures here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post292190

Might be too late but perhaps a quicker, cheaper option would be to install a set of 150 series Roadsafe recovery points. These come with nuts welded to the end of pieces of wire. Once you remove the upper rear bolt the existing captive nut will fall inside the chassis rail (I planned ahead and siliconed the captive nut holder to the chassis to stop it falling), you can then feed the recovery point nuts in through the elongated holes a bit further towards the rear of the car.
To see how the recovery points fit, check my rig build linked in my signature.2004 Grande, V6 4.0L, Auto, Pearl White, head unit, Hilux wiper jets, LED interior lights, ARB bullbar, Tigerz11 winch, Front recovery points, Kings/Airbagman/Bilstein
