    Borgy,

Sensors is ONLY good for parking next to the solid wall, car, etc...
Whey won't tell you (in > 75% of cases) if there is a small kid or tree stump, etc out there...

My SWMBO smashed the rear of the Prado twice relaying on the sensors...
Driver begins relaying on the sensors and more lazy to turn their head around...

From experience by the time they detect the small object your car already will be over it...

    Just my 2c...

I have both and to be truthful rely on the camera and rarely use the sensor.

Have the Waeco R250 on Prado and on Jayco Poptop.

With the wide mirrors on the D4D (mine is 2007) I have found I get just as much view of outside lanes as with the towing mirrors I previously used on the 80 series.
Beauty of the wide mirrors and the camera on back of van is that I see to the right and left wth mirrors/camera and straight behind me as well with camera.
Now have Aussie Truck Mirrors and Ora Enzo magnetic towing mirrors surplus to requirements. The Ora is brand new and the Aussie have had a couple of years use.

Camera for me. There's no substitute for actually being able to see what is going on rather than relying on flashing lights.

I'm talking through my arse though as I've never used a sensor system - it's just that the camera works well for me. Oh and mirrors!

Piggy, the keyword here is slowly  . My wife has a problem
to drive slow enough so that sensors got time to react .

They work fine for me though

Just wondering where you put a monitor in a GXL if you don't upgrade the radio to LCD screen.I have seen rear vision mirror LCD screens but don't know how good they are?
I think I'll go the camera.
                Any pictures would be good?

I aim to go with the camera. In the mean time I aim to miss anything behind me

I like this Polaris unit ..

... but heard recently that Polaris have released a new 7cm screen that is a combo GPS/Sat Nav screen and accepts feed from the reverse camera as well. I just haven't got any details for it yet.

                  Cheers

I like to have all the help I can get to avoid expen$ive panel damage.

This way, we've got both visual and audible indicators.

If there was something that allowed you to smell how close you were, in addition, then we'd probably get that too!

                      Rear Camera model suggestions?

Any clues on the model/brand of tiny rear cameras?. I looked on fleabay, and there are many to choose from. Ones that have infrared, 2lux, 5 lux, attach to the number plate, attach by drilling into the door panel, and others I have no idea how they attach as they look like they need to screw onto something. So, here are the questions
                      1. Anyone got a good colour rear camera model to use?
                      2. I have a 12v hella socket at the back area, and was thinking of piggy backing off those wires for the power... good idea or not?
                      3. lux suggestions
                      4. degree of view angle, especially since the spare wheel is near.
                      5. Where best to buy? Alberts, Strathfield, Fleabay, etc

Some of us use the Eclipse camera which is a nice small unit that interfaces well with the Grande's standard satnav screen.

As it's been a while since I did mine, there may be other (improved) models on the market.
