Top effort Mitch,
Thansk for all the photos. I am going to start my setup this weekend, i hope it will look as good.
Can you give me any explaination on what you secured them to in the floor? Was it the 3rd row seat anchor points?
Thanks
Timmay

Yep, thats right Timmay....
I removed the little bars that the 3rd row seats anchor too and used the bolt holes, just had to get a couple of longer bolts and some flat head washers to suit.
Do you take the draws out often ?
I guess you have to unscrew the top..beacuse yours is very neat.
I have made a similar setup My draws are not as deep as yours as I made a shelf above my draws to fit 2 card tables and my snatch strap sits in front of the 2 tables for very quick access. also my top has a long piano hinge on each side of of the draws to flip over so i can slide the unit out. I can do it on my own but usually wait for a mate to come over and do it then. I hold the box in with 2 turn buckles near the back door and 1 near the split seat. I also take out the 40 side of the 60/40 seat and mount the fridge ( tin lids to old and dont want to go out anymore )..I will have to take some pics when i fit it to the new car..

That sounds like a pretty good set up Spara, definately post some pics mate!
I haven't had the need to remove them yet, and I only made them a couple of weeks ago.
Nearly had to remove it this weekend as we had the inlaws and some NZ visitors staying, but ended up using two cars. But it is only 6 screws and the top is off, remove the four screws from the little face plate wings (either side of the draws), slide out the draws, two bolts holding the unit in and easily removable by one person.
Fantastic post... am going to start that this weekend!
Quick question... you have noted measurements of 1425 for the bottom width and 1045 for the top... is this a typo?? Just want a rough idea before I start...

DOH!
Probably a typo, I'm at work now and they have restrictions on the net so I can't the pictures I posted, but yes you would be correct. The top is wider than the bottom as the top incorporates the wings.
Alright here we go with my variation of the home made drawers. Firstly thank you very much Mitch and others for the inspiration. Unfortunately my budget blew out and the total cost was just over $400. Biggest expense was HD drawer runners from EBAY $160. Marine carpet 6m2 $90. Carpet glue $30. Ply approx $120. Aluminium angle $50. Various other packets of screws, drawer handles etc.
Main drawer, Fride slide & two full length side pods.
Drawer open. HD runners are suppose to be rated for 100kg
Fride slide open. Secured by Waeco mounting kit. I am going to add a couple of extra securing points in front of Waeco bracket to keep fridge tied down. There is about 200mm behind fridge before cargo barrier. Perfect spot for first aid kit.
LHS side pod in position
LHS side pod removed. There is full length aluminium angle that pod sits on.
RHS side pod in position
RHS side pod removed.
I removed the securing bars and the plastic surrounds from the third row seat mounts. Unit is bolted into the floor using the existing holes from the seat mounts and longer HT bolts (M10 x 1.25 x 50mm).
This was one of those projects that I have been putting off, but recent threads renewed my enthusiam. More than happy with the way they have turned out. (Was almost going to start a new thread). Big test will be two week trip to Fraser Island in October.
