  • Sorry Dave, pretty sure that most of us have just measured as we've built. I posted some basic measurments up very early on in this thread if that helps...

    • I used some of the basic measurements posted early in the thread and made it up as I went along from there to suit my needs. I did however use a lot of the ideas in particular mounting and latches etc from others who have posted in the thread.

          • Ok, there went a couple of hours in research reading this thread. Man the standards you guys have set are high. I'm starting my drawer tomorrow and I think it'll have a mix of quite a few ideas from previous posts. Mine will only be a single unit on the passenger side for now. Better remember to take photos.

              • Here's what stage I got to today. Hopefully this link to the album works, (if it doesn't I apologise and I'll get some posted asap).

Notice the obligatory shopping bags that we all in Adelaide have to cart around. At least now they will be in one place, and hidden when I get to knock up the drawer.
Fogot to mention, I used Chippy's measurments for the unit and it fits like a glove. Now to get it secured via the 3rd row seat mounting bracket and make a start on the drawer itself. Hopefully it rains this weekend so that I don't have to put up the verandah and I can finish this project. (one of the few time I pray for rain)

                • Nice work Gramps, looks almost identical to my set up, just on the other side. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

                  • Excellent Gramps.. Are you just building a single draw or a pair?

                    • Only a single at this stage. I need the other seat atm when separation of the waring parties is required in the 2nd row.
The lone participant of the female army often wages an onslaught on the two star geneneral and his younger counterpart. If nuclear arms were readily available to minors, my backseat would be a barren wasteland as brinksmanship would have gone a step too far.

Suggest you threaten them with "Billy Goats". As I recall a certain female was otherwise occupied crying and therefore unable to insight any attack on the opposing armies.

I like the way you think, this has two benefits: 1- they settle down & 2- I get to play in the dirt again.

                          • Thanks everyone for your ideas....
I had a good look on this post on the dreaded night shift last week and before i knew it my shelves are ready for carpet (almost). I did away with a drawer as really just needed a slot for my space case and a 3rd battery for the fridge. I used Justo's idea for the camping table too so now will have a much more organised rear end!

I have 6 kids every second weekend and often only take 3 of them camping so need to be able to put the thing in and out fairly easily so kept the size manageable for a 1 man job.

Will post some pics when I figure out how..

                            Cheers everybody

                            • Well, finished the drawer yesterday. I'm ready for carpet now but am a bit reluctant to do it myself. I'm really happy with what I've done to this point that I don't want to ruin it with a dodgy final job.
Last photos to be posted when I work out what I'm going to do.

The work you've done so far looks great, I'm sure if you take your time with it and use the right glue etc you will be fine, the carpet I used is pretty forgiving, if you don't get a cut quite right you can normally hide it fairly well.
