A phone call to Main roads informed me that to remove the rear seats on a permanent basis (they said anything more than24 hours) would require a compliance plate on the car, taking it from a seven seater down to a five. Not doing so would mean that insurance etc would be null and void in the event of a claim. Anyone else had this?
What model Prado do you have? For a 150 they're correct, for a 120 they're talking crap. Another reason I prefer the 120

    • Its a 120, might have to rattle some chains eh? D4D any links or contacts to point me in the right direction?

Exactly how I see it blkd4d, just trying to get the facts straight before deciding what to put in/on the car.

          • That is all I do. Get some cardboard from the newsagents, the stuff kids use for school projects. Draw a straight line about 150mm from one edge and then square up the cardboard up against the front edge. Mark every 100mm or so legthwise. Use a steel ruler and measure across to the side at each of these points and mark the number next to the line. Then cut the profile and refit, keep adjusting until you get it right.

How do the bungee loop and buttons go for stopping the draws from sliding out?
After seeing yours, I might try that as well.

                • Hey Guys, Just wanted to show you the drawers that I finished about a fortnight ago before we set off for Googs Track and Bendleby Ranges. I used 15mm structural ply for all of it. I tried to keep the costs down so used 14g decking screws that I had left over from my deck build and just some 8g wood screws that were lying around. All screws holes were piloted, counter sunk and all joins were glued.

                          • Heres my custom draws for under $200. Father in law is the wood work man so i left the building to him and looked after the paint, carpet and latches

only used cheap metal runners for draws that he had on hand but wasn't long enough, so decided for the full bin up front. Recovery gear (trax, straps & shovel) fit perfectly up there out of the way and maybe even my kids if they give me grief on our oz trip :P Thanks to all involved with this thread for the motivation

                              • Has anyone done a slide out tray from under the drawer system to use as a bench and if so photos would be great?
