HF Antenna mount options

G'day all,

I'm aware of the Kaymar options to mount a Codan HF antenna on the rear of the vehicle (120 GXL), including the ones that bolt to the spare wheel studs and the other option where the bracket sits in between the door and spare wheel.

I've had a look around and can't find too many other options and I was wondering if anyone here had come up with any other solutions. I don't want the antenna to stick up more than 100mm beyond the height of the factory roof rails, otherwise I may struggle to clear the garage roller door.

Any ideas and/or pics appreciated.

G'day Nik,
I have seen HF antennas' mounted on a pivot on bull bars and on the back of vehicles. When not in use just fold down, then height around the burbs does not become a problem, the only problem is where to store the whip when traveling. Will see if I can find some photos.

G'day Geoff, thanks for the info. Yeah, I've think I've seen the ones you're referring to - from PE Fabrication or similar. Up until a week ago, I had it mounted on the front of a Hilux and whilst the local wallopers didn't get too concerned about it, it was a hell of a thing to have sitting up there on the bullbar. Anyway, we'll see what turns up.

The Kaymar rear mounting system, I thick, is the go. Gets that bloody bulky aerial away from your front vision.
Have a look on their website. Their a couple hundred dollars to buy.

I am looking at a few options as my new beast will not have a bullbar this time. The options are:

1. getting a Kaymar rear mount with a GME AE4706 broomstick (2100mm)
2. getting an ARB Deluxe Aluminium Roof Rack and mount a GME AE4705 (1200mm) on top

In any case I will make sure that the broomstick can be taken off easily to prevent it getting stolen.

Has anyone recently installed a Kaymar Rear Antenna Mount Part #K7123 (http://www.kaymar.com.au/accessories...ccessories.php). I am wondering whether they work with the new 150 model since it has a camera built in the back.

Any comments / advice greatly appreciated. Cheers Morrie

Electric bug, Torrens Rd Croydon have a mount that fits under the spare mount..i used one for years with a Barrett auto tune, worked great.

Ifthey dont have them anymore i might have mine somewhere in the shed.
