I've got my eye on one of these myself. Might give the missus a hint before my birthday

Just not convinced on the durability of the PVC cover, my rig lives outside 24/7. The PVC cover on our camper went hard as a rock and started cracking over 2 years or so.

          Re: awnings

Bought a couple of Rhino ladder brackets from ARB and they didn't quite fit the bill, so I modified them and they are fine now...

Photos are iphone, so sorry for quality.

            Re: awnings

            I just bought a "uptop campers" awning 2.5 x 2.1m
            http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MANUAL-RETRACTAB ... 1e615b9d9c
It came with all the brackets, bolts and nuts to fit, as well as ropes and pegs to tie it down.. $245 delivered. (2 days to my door) have used it a couple of times and am stoked with it. Its the same as the ARB awning, and even they raised an eyebrow when i told them how much i paid!

                    Re: awnings

Found a unit at Yatala made by a group called "Supa-Peg" (http://www.supapeg.com.au/product_info. ... cts_id=164). They've been advertising in the Weekend Shopper up here for $199. It's a 2 X 3 metre unit (3 metres out from the vehicle) made from 8oz Dynaproof canvas (not the thinner PVC lined polyester but proper canvas). The unit comes complete with mounting brackets, 2 poles, ropes and pegs. Whilst the poles are seperate and the unit is not free standing (as some of the other units are) the canvas is strong, thick enough, UV protected and water proof. They also have other units that are free standing and have all the bells & whistles (additional screens, extensions etc). Installation looks very easy. I have the Toyota Aero Roof Bars. Simple take the end caps out, peel back the rubber insert and trim to the length of the bracket, slide the 2 lugs into the roof rack slot and bolt the unit bracket onto the lugs. Piece of cake. I'll post some photos shortly.
