Does anyone have pictures or more detail on the "2 x rear of middle plate between bar and car" I can't picture where these 2 are and what they bolt too.
Cheers Andrew
The third photo in the 1st post of this thread shows the section of the HR towbar that mounts to both where the Toyo bar mounts & the extra 2 bolts at the front of the bumper. It is effectively a U channel that the bumper sits in. http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...n-reese-towbar
The new HR/Trailboss bar (perhaps the old one also?) comes with 2x5mm plates (approx 30x50mm) that has a threaded hole in the centre that have what can best be described as a big keyring welded to each of them which enable you to hold the plates in position inside the bumper, through the numerous holes in the bumper, to thread the 2 bolts from the front of the bar. There is no drilling required as the plate aligns with other existing holes in the bumper.
On the Trailboss bar I fitted to my vehicle yesterday, which I got from the same place as thebigo, this channel is integrated with the whole bar but the theory is identical and this photo is not cluttered by the rest of the bar.
so what is the best price people have been able to get in Brisbane? i am going to replace the factory bar i have with a hayman reece or trailboss etc. after the horror stories i have heard, and i read that a rear bar will not fit well with the factory towbar.

Thanks,

Scott. I got mine from Speedy. When I went there we were discussing what I wanted & I mentioned PP. Consequently he looked after me as he had sold a few recently to other PPers. I must admit I didn't even bother pricing around... He is -in Everton Park which is relatively close and had what I wanted. (thank god I don't live near AJ or AMTS!!!)
I don't have the receipt with me and I was sold a ecu thingy that is only needed on the 150's, which he apologised for and will refund when I get back there, but it was somewhere around $400 with the harness (ecu is on top of this price for 150's). That is NOT installed tho. It's not a big job to install it and if you need a hand let me know & I could probably assist.
I am planning a trip down the Canning Stock Route (north to south) in June/July towing a Cavalier Offroad camper. I am concerned about some of the reported failures of the Toyota towbars, although I as yet have not experienced any problems. My question is whether I should consider changing the tow bar for an apparently stronger and better mounted Reece hitch brand, or take the risk and keep the one I have. I have heard some reports of tow bars tearing out of the chassis on some vehicles given the constant corrugations. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
Neil
I need to bring up this old thread as I want to mount my Hayman Reece tow bar ASAP but require help.
Does anyone have the fitting instructions and parts list for the bar in MLC's post #17. I have to replace all the bolts, so I need sizes and quantity.
I've been trolling the net looking for the fitting guide, but as yet haven't found anything.
Thanks in advance.

Have you asked HR direct?

I've kept everything in the very expensive multi purpose plastic holder you supplied.
Work has been crazy in the last couple of days, so I haven't had a chance to get in touch with HR. That's why I thought I'd try my luck with PP just in case.
.... yes, you didn't pay for that bag, I am expecting it back too!
