I thought it was the template I checked it 3 times and was a bit pissed. Is it pretty much the same fitment as mine? I might let my ironman deer know of so and leave it up to him to contact them.2012 Suzuki jimny 50mm lift, 215/75/15 hankook muddies, 30 inch dual row light bar, gme UHF, arb compressor, rola roof rack, ironman awning, projecta dual battery system with yellow top optima, evakool fridge freezer and arb air locker this month!

Hi guys I have just fitted a new ironman snorkel to my 2003 Grande Prado over the weekend and thought I would share me experiences with you all.
In my opinion the quality of the ironman snorkel is extremely good, much better than I was expecting. It is also much thicker and heavier than expected; the snorkel is at least 5-6mm thick and feels very solid. I think that if you were to break this than there would be a lot more damage to your car to worry about than just the snorkel.
The fit of the snorkel to the car was very good with no gaps when everything was done up. Being a cheaper snorkel I thought that it might be restrictive to the air flow, but I having had a good look over it I don’t think this is the case. It is of a large free flowing design. The piece that goes in the inner guard which connects the snorkel to the pre spinner is also as large as possible and free flowing with gentle curves to aid in good air flow.
The only thing that I would say let the kit down a little was the template was not very accurate. It still worked fine but the location of some of the mounting holes was a little out and I had to elongate them with a file so that the rear of the snorkel sat correctly. I guess this is why they say to drill 16mm holes when the studs are only 6mm and to use the large washers which are supplied. In reality this not a problem as the snorkel body fully covers all the holes. But why not make the template right in the first place?

This shot shows the thickness for the snorkel which is around 5-6mm, very solid.
Template attached to the car, the large hole was good but the smaller holes were a little out, not a real problem though.
Once all the holes are drilled make sure that you debur them and apply good quality paint to prevent rust, I used kill rust galvanised primer

Make sure you use some sort of sealant under the bracket to prevent moisture ingress, I used Skiaflex and wiped off the excess after the bracket was installed. My kit was also supplied with stainless screws so hopefully no rusting.
Before bolting the snorkel to the car I put some loctite on the studs so they don't vibrate loose. When bolting the snorkel on I found the top rear nut is very hard to get on due to limited access but with some (lots) of persistence you can get it.
Install the inner duct and conect to the pre spinner, make sure everything is tightened up and your almost done.
Refit the inner guard and your good to go. This is really something that most people could do themselves. The hardest part was removing the inner guard as the clips are a real pain to remove. Just take your time and make sure the template is aligned as per the instructions. I shopped around and was able to get the snorkel for $280. I would highly recommend them.Last edited by kevdebbi; 27-06-2012, 08:13 PM.[B]2003 V6 Parado Grande.

Nice one! thanks for that, ive been wondering about the ironman snorkels and they seem to be really good quality. I think im 99% sold now especially when you look at the thickness of the plastic! Did you have to remove any of the interior trim at all to put the fixings in the A pillar or were the self tapping screws?
