The demo only runs for 20minutes or so but other than that it is fully functional.
McBain do you think this may be something you can try?
Thanks in advance
Richard
EDIT: Looks harder than I thought....it seems the install program is looking for specific hardware & as such when I run the setup nothing happens. I'm going to send off an email to Oziexplorer & see if they can help. Thanks.Richard

Those side pods make it a real neat job don't they? Luckily...on the 90 series its just a double-din space..when I end up find a solution to jam into it!

I am sold too.
I just returned from a visit to McBain's place to check out his head unit in real life. Guys I can assure you this is one nice piece of electronics. I have given him my order for a unit as I am totally sold.
If you are serious about this get onto McBain and let him know.
cheers

Well done Mcbain. Great job you've done there.
Are there any provisions on the unit to use the existing steering wheel controls as on the update models?
Cheers

McBain, any chance you can get a part number for the plastic bits from the echo? The rocket scientist at my Toyota dealer says there are no such thing. Would not even look it up for me until I get a part number! :evil: :evil: :evil:

This is a great thread, so I want to add some value to the knowledge here so we can keep it together.
Here is some photos of the blanking plates that I used on my similar installation. AUD$20 from Alberts Hi-Fi for the pair. Note that it is actually a single DIN replacement kit, but has double DIN butterfly ends included for good reason.

TV Arial I used
This is a picture of the TV arial I used on my double-DIN "All-in-1" installation.
I had it installed on the front passenger side window. (I will get some photos soon). I bought it without really thinking about where it would go, and because the rear side windows of the Prado are openable, I could not install it there. Also the rear window is too far away for the cables (I know I could probably join it, but ideally I would like minimal joins). Note for others who want to look into the TV arial option... Some units come with 4 arial sockets, whereas my unit came with 2 arial sockets. The sockets look like 3.5" headphone jacks, and the TV arial simply plugs in. So before you buy the arial, count the number of sockets you have. I have two, so I bought a two jack arial. Note also that my arial requires 12v power. This is quite normal, so be aware that also the wires need to get connected to a 12V source as well. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have kept looking for another TV arial model, but it is too late now.2004 GXL V6 Petrol Manual; Factory Bullbar; Safari Snorkel; 4" height boost; In-dash DVD + GPS + TV + Radio + CD + MP3 input + Bluetooth + Reverse Camera; Scratched silver duco; GME TX3440 UHF and GME AE4705 arial; Tinted windows; Radar detector (shh); Dual battery; Two extra rear hella sockets;
