Seriously though, I think Waeco (and some others)do a small thermo electric (they heat and cool) unit that holds about a six pack. I wouldn't be swapping my console for it though....Maybe it would fit just behind the console/ infront of the back seat.

I could go for a cold VB somewhere in the middle of the trail. (on a rest break I should add)
I was actually thinking of taking out the smaller portion of the split rear seats and putting in an ARB in the rear seats.
Here is a small one with an arm rest and cup holder.
There are some companies that also make a two bottle wine refrigerator.

I seem to remember the thermo electric fridges work on a 20 degreee differential (at the best) from ambient. Therefore in a a car sitting in the sun at 45 degrees the fridge would "at the best" pull down to 25 degrees.
I have never purchased one for that reason, althought I would love to find out I'm wrong as the cost and weight of them are really good.

No your right about the temperature differentials....I picked up one from DickSmith for A$29.95 with the guarantee that if I was unhappy with it I could take it back. Well it does work OK..but it will only cool the contents down by 20 degrees or so. We jammed it behind the passenger seat. Because the unit has no internal circulation fan, the stuff closer to the element is colder than that futher away too. One last thing it does have a cooling fan on the outside, which you could only hear when travelling at less than 60km/h...if it was jammed in the back somewhere it would be quite quite I would think.
Anyway its purpose is for day trips only, not overnighters.
