Bull bars and roof racks

HI all, I'm new to this forum and recently purchased a 2005 Prado GXL 4.0l Petrol Auto.Bought it from a nice old lady and it still has 82000kms on it Apart from taking it for a major service, which is next week, I have replaced all four tyres with BF Goodrich AT. ABout to inherit a whole bunch of stuff like air compressors and recovery gears. SO I'm pretty excited for the summer daze ahead.

Ultimately I'm hoping to get personal advice, recomendations, suggestions on a suitable bull bar and roof rack ideas for my vehicle. I have been placed on a waiting list at ARB for a deluxe bar and I think its qte pricey...it looks good though . ANy other models, brands, worthy and fits the 120 very well out there? what r your thoughts on 2nd hand ones??

Bars for a GXL aren't cheap are they. I'm leaning towards the TJM one myself. It's a little bit cheaper fitted, here in Perth anyway, and looks to be every bit as good.

Well ARB quoted arnd less than $1900 to supply and fit. Waiting list till sept..!!

We got the TJM T13 bar supplied and fitted for about $1400 from memory. Only problem with the TJM bar is you can't really install recovery points with it and TJM don't seem interested in coming up with a solution.

As far as roof racks we went the heavy duty rhino racks and alloy tray. Can't fault them.

This is a problem with many 120 bars TJM bar = no recovery points. Ironman bar = no recovery points. Sovereign bar, you can fit points, and ARB bar comes with integrated points. I'm not sure whether the Opposite Lock bar has integrated recovery points like the ARB bar. There's a thread somewhere on PP regarding the OL bar, so you could PM the owner and ask?

I have a 2009 GX Prado and have been told that the GX needs a specific bullbar and NOT a GXL.

How true is this?

It would be the difference between the flares / no flares model...

....a 2009 GX has flares, so will be no different to a GXL bullbar

2009 GX has flares so it should be the same as a GXL, no other reason that i could think of.

I got the TJM bar, was $1395 plus fitting, fair bit cheaper than ARB and I love the look of it. Also got a full length tigerz11 steel roof rack, cheap but does the job, about $280.

I have just ordered the ARB Delux non-winch bar fitted $2100 with driving lights supplied and bar painted, I also had an ECB roof rack fitted very nice rack, very solid.

Did ARB say when the bars are available?? Last time I checked they are still on backorder. Apparently minig companies are sticking to 120 series...?? Not that I believe anything they say but just bothers me that they can't give an exact date. Last time I asked I was told September... now its September...still nothing. Maybe I should just go with other bars. Or is it worth the wait?
