I have been researching the Open Sky rooftop tent for our Cape trip next year. We really like the complete setup of rooftop tent, tent skirt awning and mesh walls. Total price for that setup is $2,500. Great value.
Here is a pdf brochure on the awning if you have not seen it.

I think they are the best that I have seen and will probably buy the awning even if we dont buy a rooftop tent.LES

I like those rooftoppers as well, great for a trip up the OTL. I saw a simillar one set up at the local TJM and ARB shop the other day.2004 3.0L TD GXL manual, Bilstein & Lovell springs 2inch lift, PolyAir Bags in rear, Piranha Dual Battery tray, Baintech Battery Isolator, Toyota Electronic Rust Protection, Sovereign Bull Bar

During your research MT, did you check to see if the Prado door will fully open with the tent ladder down and skirt on?
Probably not a big issue if it didn't, so long as you had enough room to reach into the fridge for a late night beverage or snack.2005 GXL - V6 5sp Auto, Black Widow Drawers and Shelf, Safari Snorkel, ATS 50mm lift kit (Bilstein Shocks/RidePro Springs), ARB Winch Bar w/recovery hooks, IPF 900XS Spotlights, IPF Fatboys, Rhino Rack Sports Bars, Cooper ATR's, Kenwood DDX 7039 iPod/Video/DVD/Radio/Bluetooth, GME UHF CB's TX3400 + TX630 Handheld, Extended Diff Breathers, Dual Batts, Engel 40 litre

The rear door will almost fully open with the ladder down. There would be only a few inches in it though. I wouldn't be too interested in the skirt on most trips (with our 4wd club) as the awning would serve most purposes. We look at the rooftop as something that would be opened when nightfall isnt far off. In other words, the awning would be where we would be most of the time. Our camper trailer is serving us well at the moment, but the rooftopper gives another angle to camping again.LES
