G'day Guys, need to vent a bit. I'm fortunate enough to get a bus to work as a shift worker, and have a short walk home which gives me a couple of moments to appreciate being a Prado owner as I have a perve on the 4wd in the carport before stepping through the front door.
Tonight I noticed my hi lift jack brackets didn't look quite right. Check the pics out, BAST@R&S, *&%#$*&$%##@, *&%$#@#$# and that was the tone of conversation for the next 2 minutes until I walked to the beer fridge and cracked a cold one.
I have a full length Tracklander roof rack and after much debate and painful parting of cash, opted for the Tracklander brackets as well. Hindsight glad I did, they tried to reef it off but because the rear of the bracket steps in and encapsulates the top tube it was going nowhere. They have snapped a couple bits of the expanded mesh and scraped some powder coating off though, which just gives me some work to do on my days off, Marvelous!!!
Anyhow the Missus kindly pointed out it could have been a lot worse with the jack and bracket gone. That's not the POINT, but she right..........Don't tell her okay!!!
Here's the kicker, obviously it was just an impulse walk by and have a go because all they needed was some tools to undo the lock nuts and presto..........Idiots. The jack was only on the truck as was going on a day trip that was cancelled and hadn't pulled it off yet. Still working on a locking mechanism, besides the lock nuts, that won't bang, flap and chip when on the road/dirt.
So guys be vigilant, any tips on powder coating/painting repairs, locks etc would be cool, be gentle. LOL. At least I'll only have to replace the rear clamp brackets.
Thanks for the venting time, scotch needs replenishing.
CYA on the tracks.
