Bossco or Roo System Bullbars - anyone see/used one?

Hi guys,

I'm on the hunt for a good priced bullbar, as I cant bring myself to hand over an arm and a leg to ARB . . i know I know, you get what you pay for and all that, but I'm not planning on knocking down trees with this bar, simply something I can attached a basic winch to and mount some lights.

I have found the Bossco bullbar on ebay for $599, I like the single hoop look:

and the Roo Systems premium bar with led light on special for $1,245.

I would appreciate comment from anyone who has seen these in the flesh or actually used them before.

Hey Gino.
Took delivery of a bossco bullbar yesterday. It's pretty much what I expected as far as finish goes. Where it's been cleaned up around the welds on the corners etc is a little rough but the welds as far as strength and integrity of the bar go seem quite good to me. One thing tho, in the description on ebay the top hoop is shown as chrome but it turned up with a powdercoated hoop. I've got back to them and to their credit they're happy to send me out a chrome one.

Dropping the bar off tonight to be powdercoated grey to suit the 120 and then fitment early next week if all goes well. Hope it fits up ok. I'll get back on tell you how it went.

Did you purchase through ebay or through them direct? . . . was the customer service good?

Ebay Gino. As for customer service, sent email this morning about the black vs chrome hoop and got an email a few minutes ago saying it will be dispatched today. So far very good.

Fitted the bar up last night with no real problems. Had to file out a few of the holes a little where it mounts to the chassis but only a few minutes work. It actually fits quite well with the gaps side to side quite uniform with some monor fine tuning. Winch fitted in with no problems. For the $599 + 85 freight and the 40 bucks it cost me for powder coating I really couldn't be happier at this stage.

Awesome mate, I'd be keen to see the finished product when you get a few more pics. I've been thinking about these bars myself to be honest.

Does the top hoop bolt on, did you get it powder coated yourself?

I was thinking bout getting one but would like it silver to match prado but they told me only black.

I like it, much better then black. Looks really good.

I might go down this path too but I think powder coating would be more like $300 here, you got it done really cheap

Just couple more questions, did you buy the bar raw steel or can they powder coat over powder coating And if you did was it cheaper to buy.

Brad, the bar came powder coated black. Pretty sure that's the only option. No worries powdercoating over as long as the original powder coating is in good condition which it was. I was way surprised at how cheap it was to get done. You should note that as far as I know they don't come with the chrome hoop so you may have to have it done or colorcoated.

What's with the big piece of checker plate on the top of the bar? The rest of the bar looks good.

fido, checker plate covers a hole for access to the winch but for me it's just as easy to open the bonnet. I must admit I have thought of color coating that as well. Haven't decided if I like it or not yet.....
