  • Toyota towbar wiring harness 7 pin large round to 7 pin flat plug?

    Hi Gents,

Toyota discontinued the 7 pin flat plug harness (PZQ61-60100) for the 120. They still sell the round plugs and the part number for the 7 pin large round is PZQ61-60110.

My question is can I purchase the 7 pin large round (PZQ61-60110 (circa $50)) harness and cut off the large round female plug and add my 7 pin flat female plug?

The 7 pin flat plug harness (PZQ61-60100) use to sell for about $170 so even if some dealers still have them I’m not interested. I’d like to use a Toyota harness for the ease of use and to avoid soldering.

By the way great forum guys, been on here a while and have read countless threads over many nights, I’m addicted! First post.

    Cheers,
    Jamie

Thanks gents, I figured it was as simple as changing the plug, i just couldn't understand why the flat plug costs over $100 more than the round one.

Ordering the towbar wiring harness and Hilux wiper jets today.

        Cheers,

Seems a bit steep, a Narva flat plug is $12 from my local auto store who don't do bargains on anything.

          Cheers Andrew

            Hi Andrew,

Was talking about the Toyota 7 pin flat plug harness (PZQ61-60100) priced at $170 compared to the Toyota 7 pin large round (PZQ61-60110) priced at $50.

I figured i'd just get the Toyota round harness at $50 then connect the Narva flat plug at $12.

            Thanks,
            Jamie

The round one is not just an adapter is it? (flat to round)
              The price difference seems extraordinary.

One point to consider if you run electric trailer brakes, the large round will carry the current for electric brakes far better than the small pin plugs. I just changed my set-up to large round for this reason.

Anyone in the Sydney area that wants a Navara flat plug and a mounting bracket for a Genuine Toyota (Hayman Reece type) tow bar, I have one here for free

i wouldnt be chopping the plug off either why not just pull the plug open and unhook the old round plug? saves you loosing length on harness and then you can reuse the round plug too.. it is just as simple as a small flat blade screw driver!
                    Good Luck!

I left the round 1 and put in a 12 pin aswell. Get to use either then. Also have an adapter to go to 7 flat in case.

12 pins good for yhe van for charging batteries and running the fridge. Also run a av cable for a camera of the back of the van if required
