  • Cargo Barrier & Option Pack 1 (Side Air Curtains)

Has anyone with a Prado 07/08 with Option Pack one installed a Cargo Barrier.

I have been told that I cannot fit a Cargo Barrier because the side air curtains (Option Pack One) will be inhibited by it.

Any thoughts - as I am going to be fitting home-made drawers and would like to install a 1/2 size cargo barrier to keep the dogs in the back.

Well done Stevo ... that link certainly suggests that some of the major players have developed cargo barriers that work with the side curtain airbags ... especially in the half height version.

Gordon, I was reading (again) the July edition of 4x4 Australia ... about Rob Ackland's VX Prado tourer. Rob's Prado was being used as the test mule for the new Aus. Design Standard Milford cargo barrier.

It certainly seems they are around .... maybe just needs a bit more ringing around .... or a salesperson who knows current stuff

        Cheers

Thanks Chippy - Im now researching Milford Barriers.

Yep....The Toyota dealership technical expert (thats what the Toyota dealer called him) seems to have no idea what-so-ever. Why am I not surprised that they still can't replicate the technical knowledge provided by PP members!

By the looks of the Cargo Barrier - I'm not sure if the dogs will be able to squeeze through to the passenger side. I will have to wait until I get the Prado in March and go size one up at different manufacturers to see if it will keep all the stuff in the back including the dogs without impeding the airbags etc.

Thanks Guys - plenty of info as usual.

I am going to start this one up again.

I am looking for a barrier now 2006 Grande side air bags), and would prefer a full side barrier as opposed to the "cut out" of the Grande barrier to suit side air bags by milford.

I have found Autosafe create a barrier to suit but doesnt have the cut outs as the Milford does. Speaking to them they say it is suitable for airbags as the airbag does not deploy in the rear section (3rd row seats?) and only a small tether comes down there? The tether fits past their barrier apparently?

Anyone know if side bags do infact deploy in the cargo cabin (3rd row) or if it is a tether? I recall seeing a picture once but cant seem to find it now!

                    Cheers.

Brook, I would suggest getting in touch with Steve Hall from Automotive OnSite. He does all the fitting of Cargo Barriers for ARB and TJM here in Adelaide and used to manage Roof Rack City. He can offer good prices and advise on how it all works and what you need. He can supply most major brands.

                        Sorry for the grave dig.

I purchased an Autosafe cargo barrier this afternoon off Gumtree, my first Gumtree purchase. Does anybody know what colour the powder coat is, I want to tidy up a few scratches. I tried Ironstone but it is too light.
