Hello, I have a 3540 GME radio need advice on installation as in any electrical interference, and best spot to mount said radio, and any other info I might need to know about
Cheers, Niceone
Have you done a search? I found heaps of options here already when I was doing mine.
I ended up installing mine behind the speaker cut outs(?) next to your left knee.

The 120 console is so big i thought I'd use some of the space to mount my UHF, there is still more than enough storage space after the unit was installed and the mic cable isn't a problem as there is a gap on the front side of the lid when the lid is down. I also ran an external speaker to under the seat. I liked the idea of being able to hide the unit when its not being used and only had to make one small hole to run all the cables which can be covered up if ever i remove the unit .
I located the same radio head unit concealed at the rear of the console behind the rear tray bit ,with a hole cut into this panel in front of the speaker with a speaker grill from an old mobile phone car kit speaker mount over the hole and the mike located below steering near left knee ,all very neat. I did post up details on another thread somewhere but can't find it now.
New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear
Note, the inbuilt speaker is plenty loud on its own, so haven't bothered with a remote speaker (been told that they aren't as loud as the inbuilt one!)
I should note as well, I mounted the aerial in one of the aerial holes on my TJM T13 bullbar. Locktighted the retaining nut, and just "hand tightened" until very snug. Hasn't budged or come loose.

with ARB Catalog, with TJM add ons!
I mounted my TX3345 on an unused bracket under the steering column and ran the mic out above the power socket in the centre of dash, as can be seen: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...r-s-120/page13
Fairly simple install (although the 3540 would be a larger unit) and the speaker on mine gives a good sound from under here.
Thankyou everybody for info & help with the uhf finally got back home, had chance to install radio & electric brakes on the w/end, hope to see some of the se qld pp next year always watching to see where the next drive is
Cheers Dave
Two things not mentioned, and I'm probably too late now.
ensure mic is away from any place air bags deploy
2nd use the nipples on LHS under bonnet (passenger side) near aircond pipes as entry point for the coax and possibly power supply cable runs.
3rd when connecting the termination at radio end use DMM with continuity alarm to test for shorts between shield and centre conductor if its goes off you have a problem none its Ok I find a crimp variety is far better than the older twist and solder on variety for eliminating shorts but must use suitable crimping tool Altronics and maybe Jaycar have them even less dick smiths
