    which metal polish is best

    Hi all just wanted a few opinions on which metal polish you think is best for
    alloy bullbar .I find that auotsol is not as good as it used to be .

    A lot of truckies use a Purple liquid polish, forget what its called but you can usually find it at the bigger roadhouses on truck routes.
    Very easy to use.

      I've found Autosol OK and haven't noticed ay change.

      The directions cans be misleading. You need to rub and polish while its still wet before polishing it off afterwards with a dry cloth. Good thing it comes in a nice small bottle.

      This company (Ferro Finishing) has great polishes if you want a high quality product but it comes in 20 litre buckets. I'd suggest using the 'silica free' liquid Tripol then the LQ88 finishing product. It'll end up like a mirror.

        Are you using the AUTOSOL cream or the liquid in a bottle?

        If using the cream try a bit in a tub and add some kerosine to thin it down, bip your rag into the paste and polish away. The Kero seems to help with cleaning of the alloy. I've done one section of the alloy bar on MUMSRIG and it has made a definate improvement compared to the rest.

          Yeah I've been using the Autosol metal polish liquid and it seems ok. To really get a good finish though I find you really need to get stuck into it. As you polish more over time too I think you do get a progressively better finish. You won't get a mirror using it though.

          Was never a fan of the Autosol tube creamy stuff. I found I needed to use a fair amount to really get anywhere.

          You can even use paint polish too. Some say you can use a paint polish as the final cut, which also puts a layer of wax over your handiwork keeping the shine lasting a bit longer. I'm yet to be convinced of that myself though.

            Before I got sick of continually taking 3hrs in cleaning the Alloy bar I settled on the one the truckies use called Purple. It gave the best results and worked well with the electric polisher I bought.

            Got sick of wasting good off road time in cleaning the alloy bar and replaced it with an ARB Winch Bar.
            Prado TD 2004 Auto ARB Winch Bar, IPF spotties, Snorkel, OME Suspension, BFG All Terains, Optus SatPhone, Codan HF, GME UHF, 240v Inverter,
            BlackWidow Drawers, Blackwidow Shelves instead of Back Seats, 2 Blackwidow Cargo Barriers and a Blackwidow Side Awning mounted on a TJM Roof Rack
