  • Arb bull bar not fitting properly

I was reading a thread about Arb bars not lining up properly on the side plates and i remember seeing lots of talk about it but i can't reall a answer to why it was like that (i cant seem to find it now)

I've fitted the bar up following Arb's instructions and like many others it has close to a 25mm gap at the bottom near where the tie down point is..

I wasnt paying nearly $800 to have it all fitted but now looking at it there must be something wrong?

Anyone resolve this problem that fitted it them selves?

Cant see where I've gone wrong

    Thanks brad

You haven't done anything wrong, they are meant to have a 25mm gap to allow for body flex.

    Cheers Andrew

Esperance in wa, was fitting for bar, winch, fog lights kits. Think it was $600 just to fit the bar alone.

But yeh it had to be cut or it could not be fitted

You could have bought me a carton of Bundy and I would have fitted it for you.

I would have given you two cartons of bundy to fit it.. Lol but all good, its on.

Hard down in hopetoun when i only have really limited tools and when you need bolts that are meant to be in the ARB kit and arn't.. But all good

                      Hi Brad
                      Question?
Now you have fitted one, do you think the bar can be adjusted once fitted. My in slightly lower on one side by 5mm (not alot but annoying) and I was hoping that I could loosen the bolts that hold the outer bar to the main upright brackets to adjust one side. Looking at it there seems to be slots for adjustment but not sure if you have to drill some final holes to hold into place. I hope my question makes sense.
My is a Sahara Bar but the main part is pretty much the same. The local ARB guys don't really see the problem with it, Just say its a 4wd. They did fit a rubber to close the gap with a nice d-mould rubber.
                      Thanks
                      GLD

The bars have a bit of adjustment in them once fitted, left right and up down. There is a locking bolt that is drilled after final fit up that may need to be redrilled but that's all.

                        Cheers Andrew

That'd be right. Mine never got one of those and I was contemplating putting one in myself. The left side slowly slips down a few mm and I have to readjust it every 6 months or so.

I find placing a block of wood under the bar below the bracket on the jack and slowly lifting it till the gap matches the other side. Then tighten the mounting bolts again.

What size bolt do they use for that locking bolt?
