bad rust spots on newish ARB Sahara bar - any recourse?

My sahara bar (9 mths old) has really bad rust spots along the top - some have gone right through the chrome! i though it may have bees stone chips but there aren't any on the front facing side of the bar, just the top.

is this to be expected (i admit i haven't been polishing every week!) and do you think i might have any recourse with ARB? anyone else experience similar?

Unacceptable, I'd be emailing that picture direct to ARB in Kilsyth for warranty.

I think a trip to the dealer you got it from (or closest one) is in order, that appears to be more than just stonechips!

(Unless your parking it in saltwater or something along those lines!)

I'll take it to the nearest ARB dealer, the one that fitted it is a 200+k away. should be ok hopefully, you seem certain ARB should address this..?

I would e-mail ARB head office first or call and talk to their quality control department.

Issue is going to be, they probably won't swap the bar they'll re-chrome the top hoop so you may be without bar and/or vehicle while is repaired.

That simply wouldn't be good enough for me... if the top hoop is stuffed then it stands to reason that the rest of the bar won't be far behind. The bar is bought as a whole unit, it should be redone completely or replaced, no exceptions. ARB should be embaressed enough to act quickly - if not, raise hell because that is overwhelmingly unacceptable!

thanks for fixing the image, i just jumped into photobucket to reduce the size.

I'll go to ARB in the next few days and see what the local dealer says. if they can just replace the hoop I'll be happy - it is dissapointing though - it cost enough!

Oh bugger, yes... you're spot on, I've just been looking at Deluxe bars (which aren't even chrome) and had these on the brain - I need a nap!

Agreed, I would be calling head office and speaking to the quality control manager.

I had a push bike once with chrome rear stays, same thing happened rust came through the chrome. Metal wasn't cleaned properly before it was chromed. It was stripped and rechromed and was perfect.
