  • Cracks ARB Deluxe winch bar

I was fitting my new ARB LED indicator/park lights into my bar on Sunday when I noticed cracks almost entirely along the bottom mounting tab on the cover plates under each wing on the bar. I always ensure all the bolts are fastened tightly with locktite so there shouldn't be any movement in the wings. I have photos and will post when I work out how to get pictures onto this tablet. Showed local ARB dealer, they offered to see if I could get a warranty claim. I said that after 5 years of traveling it would be expected to get some damage. They have welded and reinforced the mounting tab for $50. I'm happy with that.

    Hey Dave....

We had the same issue with our ARB Deluxe bar. Our Prado is a 2010 model & I had the bar fitted in mid 2011. After our 2013 central Australia Trip, I removed the winch to service it & noticed cracks on the mounting plate. I immediately took some photos, rang the local ARB dealer and emailed them to him and HO in Victoria. Within a Few days I received a phonecall from them, wanting me to make a date to have a NEW bar installed. Apparently the 1st version of these bars had some issues and are proned to cracking. The new one has definitely got more cross bracing so time will tell if it succumbs to the cracking again.
    What year is your bar?
Try to get a NEW bar off them if u can.....

BTW: I've got no complaints about ARB service..... was very satisfied with the outcome

I got my bar in early 2009. Besides fading this is the first problem I have had with it. I've got new bolts to fix the plates on with so will make sure they're nice and tight.
