    Hi All,
I installed my ARB compressor weeks ago and thought I had better show you all.
I used 3"x11/2" T6 Aluminium channel bolted together with an 8mm S/S bolt and nyloc with lots of Durolac to make my mounting "I" beam, as the redarc and fuse panel makes that corner of the engine bay very cluttered so I needed to raise the weighty little beast.
I still have room to access the secondary fuel filter drain valve and it clears all flexible hoses.
The wiring is as per the rest of the guys, with mine being wired to the Auxillary battery and relay control +Ve taken from the Ign cct.
    A general view:

The small Air Reciever and fittings to relocate the pressure Sw. Chair rubber stopper keeps crap out of instantaneous air fitting.

View showing the Mounting bracket, lots of durolac between mounting faces and S/S mounting bolts, steel plate as supplied is under guard drowned in Tectol let dry then coating of Bitumastic paint.
07 Upgrade GXL D4D, Manual, Dune,Sov Bar, BFG's, SG11, Redark dual Batts, Extensive Aux wiring, Stebel, LED stop tails, IPF HID's (my mod), 240V Inv, ARB Comp, GME UHF,TPMS, Safari snorkel, GPS,Hilux washers, 40l Engel in 30% pas pos, homemade A/C cond protection plate, polyairs.

Nice one Clifton! An "I" beam and a chair stopper, what novel ideas. That's why I love to see others installs.

Instead of a chair stopper, perhpas consider a dust cover with a securing ring. I found mine for a few dollars at Enzed. When I remove the cover, I can't drop it deeper into the engine bay where my fingers don't fit.

        Cheers,
        LFaR.

              Hi Joey,
Thanks mate, but with no front recovery points, 50mm lift and decent tyres will have to say no thanks. I have done it before in a Moded Pootrol and had enough fun then.

Re: Install of ARB On-Board Air Compressor CKMA12

Put mine in yesterday/today. Running smoothly. Followed LFaR guide and found this spot on except that he didn't detail where he located the relay. Will upload some piccies later.

The only issue I had was with the introduction of the 10A inline fuse which sprung apart and I guess I havn't got all the parts as now it is really slopy and I have to push it together to make the unit run. Will buy a new one tomorrow.

Re: Install of ARB On-Board Air Compressor CKMA12

I wont go into all the detail of the install since there is an excellent write up from LFaR but here are some pictures of my fun this weekend:
                  Essentials

                  Under the bonnet

Mounted the relay from one of the existing bolts for the bracket that supports the fuel filter in the TD.

                  Dash mounting
Whoo. Blur. Sorry for that. Was supposed to be my record of before

After installing this I actually removed this crimp connector and soldered as I found the connection to be flaky.

Sorry but I couldn't work out quickly how to turn the flash off but both lights are illuminated.

I must take another look at this myself. I left mine snug amongst the tangle of cable, which is not as nicely finished off.

I'm curious whether the positioning of your bolt holes allowed for easy attachment of the backing plate. With the angle I chose and the rubber feet, these combined to create an additional challenge in lining up the bolts with the backing plate. It looks like yours was better lined up.

With that project completed, now onto the next one .

Thansk for the comments LFaR. Was a lot of fun with only a slight amount of cursing along the way.

I didn't have any issues with the backing plate. Used an existing hole which had a bolt welded behind and then drilled one hole at a time to make sure everthing lined up. Had to use a file to slightly enlarge one hole which was brilled on an angle but after that the backing plate slid on easily and bolted up nice and tight.

Where I mounted the relay was convinent but required an enlargement of the hole in the relay bracket from 6mm to 8mm. I might actually move the relay one bolt further rear to take up some of the slack on the cabeling which will tidy things up a little.

Will be buying a new 10a fuse folder and fuse today/tomorrow as the current one holds a 20mm fuse but has about 2-3mm of movement. There is a spring in one end of the fuse holder but when done up fully is just sloppy.

Next job will be dual batteries with either a 100Ah or 120Ah AGM probably sitting on a Piranha tray.

                        Hi Schaffer,
Well done mate, I used the single 8mm stud protruding out of the firewall to mount the Comp. relay, it is inboard of the other set of 8mm studs which I have used for a 6 way fuse panel all the other spare studs accommodate Redarc bits etc. I would keep relays away from the secodary fuel filter as the whole filter assy needs to be removed for servicing (removal/replacement) of spin-on filter and float switch drain valve assy.

I would have thought that if the Fuel Filter needs to be removed then the location that I've mounted the relay wouldn't be effected as I have mounted to the bracket where the bracket joins with the chassis, not with the fuel filter. The fuel filter then has two nuts that lock this in position on the bracket.

I know this will sound really pathetic but does anyone know how to extract the 40amp maxi fuse from the holder? I havn't blown it but just wanted to know how to remove the fuse. I've had a go with no luck and my father in-law even gave it a go, again with no luck.

                                Tsk... totally pathetic .

Do you mean like this one? A pair of long-nose pliers works for me.

If you mean the fuses in the dash, I have used the fuse-removal tool from our other car... but I'm sure the long-nose pliers would work just as well. Come to think of it, why isn't there a fuse-removal tool supplied with the Prado???
