Genuine Toyota Satnav/Stereo System

G'Day Crew,

I am currently looking for the model and oem manufacturer for the toyota genuine satnav:



At this stage I am wanting to remove my existing 6 stack bluetooth stereo, sell it and put the "non toyota" system in place with a eclipse BEC 106 camera or a decent ccd camera.

I am currently considering the "Polaris" unit with ccd camera for $1600 fitted..............

I must get a reverse camera fitted "she who must be obeyed" has deemed it a requirement!

Would prefer an in dash system that looks as close to genuine toyota than windscreen or dash mount. Deffinately NO holes!!

I have searched and looked at various other posts, just hoping that someone has upgraded their genuine unit and has one for sale or has purchased the same after market model.

I have recently been through this exercise and so far the jury is out on what to do but I believe that the Toyota unit is marketed under Eclipse or Fujitsu Ten. My research so far indicates that if you want to go with a brand name that will be guaranteed to work, interface with the steering controls, good quality camera, bluetooth etc then you are up for around $3,000 plus installation. If I go this way I will fit an Eclipse AVN6000 as it seemed to offer the best of options. I couldn't get much information about the Polaris unit even from the reseller. Also looks to be mixed results from less 'known' manufacturers. Still all options are less than the $4,600 plus fitting I was quoted by Toyota for a genuine install.

There are a few people with the polaris units now.

Do a search as there was a few threads recently and one of the guys here had just installed one. All the steering controls work with the polaris also.

It will be the unit i purchase as soon as funds allow.

The Toyota unit is an Eclipse AVN6000 which has been detuned.
The Eclipse unit will plug straight in to the existing wiring etc.

..and for 1/2 the price you could replace the system after 2 years and it will not hurt
