Help with choice of upgraded head unit

Hey guys.

Been a while but we are back in a prado again. Yay. Got an 07 grande. It's great but I really wish I had checked closer if it was an upgrade or not. No steering wheel controls oh well. But now I want to at least be able to connect an iPhone or tablet to it and play music and have gps through the stereo. The current one has blue tooth for the phone but can't play music.

so I have come here for some advice. Was looking at the digioptions ones but that thread has turned me off. So now I have no ideas. Please help.

You are on the right track giving that one a miss, best thing i ever did was throw my Dodgy Options head unit in the bin and put the original unit back in.

Sorry i cant help with an alternate choice, other than looking for one out of a later model.

I'd go with the Apple CarPlay head unit. No cd but who cares about that these days. The iPhone gps works through the unit too. A quick Google and there's a bit to read up on. Cost about $900

Something like this perhaps. It's a very reputable brand in car audio and ticks all the boxes you mentioned. You didn't mention a price range but that is starting close to the top.

I just put a single din sony bluetooth unit in mine and a parcel tray above it to sit my iPhone in, works fine. These days with iPhone gps and apps for iPads etc i dont think having touch screen and sat nav on the head units is a really important feature, but thats just me. I bought my sony unit for about $120 and it has bluetooth music, bluetooth calls and usb etc. All I need.

i went with the 09 grande because of the reverse cam and steering wheel controls
but hate the head unit , the maps are a joke
apple play looks like the best option but i dont wanna buy the first model eg alpine and pioneer versions of the apply play didnt look that great
parrot are about to release there double din apple play ....

Stay away from the Brash option too. (another eBay effort) I suspect it's a rebadged dodgy options.
