Does this mean you cannot run a snatch block?......9500lb winch or 9500lb of winching power?.........
Something ARB may want to clarify hey.......

With a snatch block, double line pull, whilst you have effectively doubled the pulling power of the winch, you have halved the force at the mount point as you have 2 connections to the bar/chassis rather than one.

But you have doubled the load on the bar mounting bolts/point......In theory with the double line pull you have created 19000lb pull power minus 5% sheave friction......so that anchor point can and will have to be suitable for this......

Not if you connect the 2nd point to the chassis/recovery hook, which is recommended.

The load is shared. At the chassis the load is direct on the chassis. With the winch the load is putting bending load on the bar. So the bending moment which is what ARB will be concerned about is still within limits. If you run a bigger winch the bending moment can be higher due to the higher load on the winch.

Ok this is how much room there is under there for the Runva 11xp.
Heaps on the ends but the aircon pipe would be the worry if you went for the bigger Runva winch for more pulling power.

If you were the lead car in Nolan's brook or solo and you lost momentum, I'd say good luck if you think you could get your winch running and get yourself out of the water before it was too late. But, I'm happy to be proven wrong if you wish to run a tutorial??

Been there done that, I could have easily winched myself out if I had a winch at the time!

Not everyone who doesn't get all the way through ends up with water to the steering wheel.

OK here are the percentages from our trip, 2 vehicles got bogged in river crossings, both with trailers attached, both were first vehicle through and both could have self recovered with a winch if we had one, so 100%

Mine was the infamous Nolans and my mate in the lesser known but similarly tricky (not as deep though) Coen river.

The point being that wanted to self recover with a winch after getting bogged in a river, Nolans or any other river is a reasonable enough thing to want to be able to do.

As an aside, I know the reason MLC is looking at this, my 12,000lb winch easily got me over the last little bit of a large dune camper in tow, MLC's 9000lb (I think) winch was barely able to get his rig and trailer in a straight enough line so he could reverse down. Despite his winch being a warn in that scenario it was pretty useless.

                      Cheers Andrew

I concur with AJ's case study. I decline to entertain his preposterous assertions that he or his equipment is better than mine. I categorically deny any misapprehension a reader may make that Somehow AJ recovered me when the said Warne (Magnum) winch failed to deliver.

back on topic, does anyone have a 12,000lb Avenger?

Edit: no Michael (120D4D), there is no need for you to embellish AJ's propaganda or even attempt to have the good folk of PP believe you played some part in a purported recovery.....

I use a tigerz 11 as do two of my mates, all three winches have been flogged, and had little care, yet none have ever failed. They range from 6 to 4 years old.

Thanks Heath, a lot of good stories on Tigers11 but the warranty, or lack of it when used off-road puts me off them.

Wish I could give you a report on the performance of the Runva 11XP MLC. Alas it's still sitting in my Garage waiting to be installed ( for over 7 mths now...) it's to replace my tired Magnum winch which I no longer have faith in. Not that it has let me down, but after stripping it down last year, I found it had digested a lot of water and took some work to tidy up the gearbox. I dare say the other end with the armature and its windings are probably pretty second hand now and not running as efficient as it once was.
The Runva for me ticked all the boxes mlc, with the best warranty which isn't voided should it be found to of been submerged, a great price, and struggled to find any negative feedback. I recommend you have a close look at this product..

A bit of a light-hearted poke with a stick and everyone gets defensive...

Back into serious mode now - I chose the 11XP after many a chat with Mick and looking at warranty issues etc. Went to order one last year but there were stock issues, so if you're keen on one of those, it's best to check availability.
