  • Parking sensor

    Hi Helpers

I have my rear parking sensor installed, that wonder that the sensor can work while the outside temperature is warm whereas the the sensor just give long-beeeeep while it is cold. The toyota technical just answer it is normal because of more dense moisture air during cold season. Is it a satisfactory answer you have heard ?

Help, I do not know how to explain to the toyota if the car belong to him after spending more 500 dollar. it only work in summer.

Please place your location in your profile.

It will help people to answer your question as this does not seem to be an issue in Australia.

The sensors should not be affected by moisture, as they appear to work fine in wet weather.
They can be affected by a coating of dust however or a towball if fitted incorrectly.

I had 2 of the heads repalced by Toyota under warranty and have not had an issue with them falsing since. (Unless they are really really dusty).
A constant beep can mean it is picking up a towbar ball too.

      Hi Eric,

Me personally I would say that the answer you have been given is garbage. I would be going for something that is affected by temperature variation like a cold solder joint in one of the sensors. I would definitely be seeking a warranty repair.

        Toyota Sensors

        Mates

Am not an expert on These , I fitted -at the dealers - the Genuine Pre 05 Lexus Style Sensors (They come in Black and Resessed a bit - Not the smooth color coded ones-) and I havn't had an issue at all -knock on wood- The sound is not loud but they will difenetaly ressist Humidity Moisture & Dust - Plenty of those two in Dubai - and A Decent Car Wash + Samll Pumps into them , - Not sure about the cold though 8) -

I join Mav in saying that the answer given by Toyota is Rubbish

          Eric,

My sensors having being doing the same since day one, has got to the point where they are ignored or even switched off( on off switch fitted), it has been getting very cold here in Picton, but scoff at it being the problem.

Why do they come up with these bullshit excuses for nearly everything under the sun, from reverse sensors to auto transmissions............

Just fix the bloody thing or find a fix, sort the problem out and move on.....

Really starting to piss me off, people who make excuses instead of doing their job properly and getting paid to do a job properly. Lazy or cant be bothered attitude??

          Regards,

          Rob

When they beep it means you're reversing, when you hear the crunching sound of metal, you've probably gone to far.

Each system is different, so it's hard to tell what it's actually telling you.

Can I suggest RTFMing and maybe speaking to the aftermarket guys at the dealership.

            Cheers,

            G
